6 ecert: the standard for electronic SPS UN/CEFACT ecert: XML for sanitary and phytosanitary certificates Open, international standard FAO IPPC recommends to use CEFACT ecert as standard for esps ecert Standard contains a description of the business processes, the data model and the XML Schema Allows reuse of information in other documents: ecert, CITES, Customs declaration, Invoice.. 7

13 Summary A standards for an electronic document is a condition for automation A project for electronic documents is more than implementing a paper document in electronic format It s an opportunity for Reorganization and automation of the complete information exchange along the supply chain: New methods for Risk managment Reduction of risk and establishing trust along the SC: A project document needs to define the policy objectives, the expected improvements for the export/import process, the key performance indicators and the activities as well as the standards used 21
