2 evsed Materal Costs Index for New esdental Buldngs Constructon (2010=100.0) 1. The Materal Costs Index for New esdental Buldngs Constructon (varable 321 of egulaton 1165/98), whch s calculated snce 1971, s a monthly specfc ndex of the quarterly Overall Costs Index for the Constructon (varable 320 of the same egulaton). It s an nput ndex that refers to the prces pad for materals by the constructors of new resdental buldngs. 2. The weghts for base year 2010 have been calculated on the bass of the correspondng weghts of prevous revson 2005, whch had resulted from an ad hoc structural survey of constructon enterprses n Specfcally, the 2010 weghts were obtaned from the relevant 2005 weghts, followng ther extrapolaton so as to refer to 2010 prces, n accordance wth the changes of ndvdual materal costs ndces for the perod After that, wth the help of experts on buldngs constructon, the relevant results were assessed wth respect to the followng crtera: the representatveness of the surveyed materals concernng ther frequency of use n each group the mportance of the materals, based on ther partcpaton n the groups to whch they belong, as expressed by weghtng aggregates. Ths cooperaton has led to the addton of two new materals and to changes n groups and relevant weght updates. More specfcally, the followng new materals were agreed: Heat pump package unts ( ), Energy glass ( ). The fnal weghts for 2010 are presented n Table 1 of the Annex. 3. The prces of these materals are those whch are actually pad by the constructon enterprses for materals suppled at the ste and do not nclude VAT or other taxes. Prces are collected on a monthly bass and usually refer to the mddle perod of the reference month. 280 commercal or ndustral enterprses, supplyng materals to constructors or constructon enterprses, are used as the reportng unts. For electrcty, prces are collected from the Publc Power Corporaton, whle for water, data are provded by water supples companes. The frst reference perod for the new materals of the ndex s January The geographcal coverage of the ndex ncludes the country as a whole, but prces are collected only n the bggest ctes of the country (Greater Athens, Thessalonk, Patra, Herakleon, Larsa and Volos). The ndex calculates the prce changes of 91 categores of materals aggregated n 15 groups, by recordng prce data of 1,515 varetes of that knd of materals. 4. Year 2010 was used as the base year for comparng prces for the ndex. The ndex wth the new weghts and base year 2010=100.0 s beng released snce March 2013, wth February 2013 as the frst reference month. Base prces for every materal were calculated by dvson of the current prces of December 2012 wth the correspondng prce ndex of December For the base prces of the new materals, the ndces of the correspondng groups were used. 2

3 5. To record the prces and to process and calculate the ndces, we used the Integrated Informaton System (IIS). 6.
