1 Exploit the patented concept of the cheapest and the safest retaining walls 26 m high aqueduct wing walls at Sawantwadi, Govt. of Maharashtra View of Introjected Backfil of length 500 m and average height of 9 m at Chakan, Pune

2 INTRODUCTION: The Introjected Backfil are cost effective retaining walls and is under Intellectual Property Rights. The present technology is the solution of constructing retaining walls at least cost and with minimal resources. The objective is to provide costeffective, strong and durable design of retaining walls through innovative design procedures and materials, yet satisfying the prescribed codal norms. TECHNOLOGY HIGHLIGHTS: * Technology under successful implementation from the year 2001 onwards * 25 to 35 % saving over conventional retaining walls * Base width- to-height ratio between 0.15 to 0.25 * Wall construction in concrete grade M15 and M20, in normal durability conditions * Wall can be founded in areas of low bearing capacity * No skilled labour required for construction of this retaining wall * Less time of construction than conventional retaining wall * No special shuttering required * Less supervision required * Backfill material as available on site * Walls can be constructed upto unlimited heights * Satisfies Indian codal provisions More stable than conventional retaining walls both in Static and Seismic conditions. 100 % 115 % 125 % 130 % 135 % Introjected Backfil Rubble Masonry Reinforced Earth (R.E walls) RCC Concrete Gravity walls walls of length 5 km and average height 8 m constructed in the last 12 months Introjected Backfil successfully used as Water front structure, Guide walls to channelize high velocity huge discharge from dams and Flood protection walls.

6 PRESENCE IN SOIL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS Cost effective soil improvement techniques below wind turbine foundations at Bhuj- Gujurat and Jath- Maharashtra for more than 350 locations. Turbines of capacity 600 kw, 1.5 MW and 2.0 MW capacity. Client: Suzlon Energy Limited, Kenersys India Pvt Ltd. & Gamesa Wind Turbines Pvt. Ltd. Prof. D.R.Phatak, Chief Mentor, StrongGid Technologies, has a teaching experience of 40 years in U.S and Indian Universities. He has guided 50 Post-Graduate thesis in Soil Technology & Foundation Engineering and his students are occupying responsible positions in teaching and research institutes in India and foreign countries and Government organisations. Prof. Phatak has published about 100 research papers in peer reviewed international journals. He has to his credit about 35 interdisciplinary appropriate technologies, which have been implemented world wide for which he holds numerous Indian and International Patent Rights. He developed possibly the first Under-reamer on Indian scenario for effective installation of Under-reamed piles. Prof. Phatak is also known for his contributions in Soil Mechanics and Concrete Technology at the National and International levels. His contributions on live load surcharge on retaining walls, swelling and shrinking soils, settlement of footings, earth pressure and liquefaction have been accepted by Indian codes and field engineers. The cost effective retaining walls namely Introjected Backfil (Upgraded version of Graaviloft Retention ), is a technology invented by him and is one of the most successful technologies evolved by him with Prof. S.S.Sabnis, his disciple who has been working with Prof. D.R.Phatak for the last 15 years. He has practically been associated with Prof. Phatak in the development of his inventions. Prof. S. S. Sabnis, Chief Technology Officer, tronggid StrongGid Technologies, has to his credit about 20 years of teaching, research and field experience. He has published 11 research papers in Indian and Foreign journals and international conferences. He has about 15 years of experience in Geotechnical testing of soils and foundation recommendations. Prof. Sabnis along with Prof. Phatak developed a site friendly and cost effective foundation improvement technique for wind turbines of 600kW, 1.5 MW & 2 MW capacity, a technology adopted by Suzlon Energy Ltd. at Bhuj in Gujarat, Kenersys India Pvt. Ltd and Gamesa Wind Turbines Pvt Ltd at Jath, Maharashtra. This system was substitute for a costly piling system and stone column system which was initially thought necessary by the client. The recent inventions of Prof. S.S.Sabnis along with Prof. D.R. Phatak include: * A substitute for soil nailing system. This system is cost effective and more stable than the prevalent nailing systems. * A unique concept of design of concrete dams. The cost of this concrete dam, namely Intra-Back dam, is nearly half the cost of a concrete dam designed conventionally and is nearly equal to the cost of an earthen dam. The technique developed has been implemented at Chakan, near Pune where a dam of about 14 m height is constructed using the technique of Intra-Back dam. The technique has resulted in 40% saving in dam construction over the conventional concrete dam without any compromise with strength, stability and safety.
