7 BEM Program Highlights Business Lighting Commercial/Industrial upgrades Street Lighting Rebates Lighting To Go Custom Retrofit Grants New Construction Resource Conservation Manager Commercial HVAC Rebates Commercial Kitchens 7
8 Business Lighting Incentives are tied to technology types: Commercial/industrial lighting upgrades eligible for incentives of up to $0.12 per kwh saved for new lamps $0.17 per kwh saved for new fixtures or manufacturer fixture kits $0.20 per kwh saved for new LLLC (luminaire level lighting controlled) fixture installations. All at up to 70 percent of the project cost and subject to PSE cost effectiveness tests. All projects must be submitted for approval before work starts and are subject to pre- or post-inspection 8
9 Street Lighting Private and public projects eligible for incentives for retrofit of an existing HID street lighting installation or installation of new LED street lights. Street Lighting incentives are the same as Business Lighting incentives. All projects must be submitted for approval before work starts and are subject to pre- or post-inspection. 9
10 Lighting To Go Point of sale incentive at distributors. Program has expanded to include more distributors in order to provide an easy method for business customers to receive rebates. No pre-approval required. PSE instant discounts of $3 to $10 on qualified LED lighting at participating Lighting To Go vendors List of participating vendors at pse.com/lightingtogo 10
11 Commercial/Industrial Retrofit (Custom Incentives) PSE will consider funding ANY cost-effective measure that provides quantifiable energy savings benefits Electric Incentives (Non-Lighting) = $0.30/kWh up to 70% of project or incremental cost Natural Gas Incentives = $5/therm up to 70% of project or incremental cost Typical measures include VFDs, chiller upgrades, boiler replacements, compressed air system upgrades, and industrial process improvements 11
12 Commercial/Industrial Retrofit (Standard Incentives) Advanced Rooftop Unit Controller Incentive Streamlined standard incentive and protocol for advanced rooftop controllers, consistent with the three other I-5 regional utilities (Snohomish PUD, Tacoma Power, Seattle City Light) Incentive of $225/ton from the electric utility and $50/ton from the gas utility Major HVAC Controls Upgrades Incentive covers up to 50% of the cost to upgrade building HVAC controls 2 part incentive - Base incentive and performance based incentive At least 5% savings is expected 12
13 New Construction Incentives Whole Building Approach Savings based on energy model Code vs Modeled Usage $0.30/kWh or $5/therm (non-lighting) Component Approach (Non-Lighting) Individual new construction measures incremental to code requirements Examples: Boiler, Chiller, or Industrial Process $0.30/kWh or $5/therm (non-lighting) up to 100% of incremental cost Component Approach (Lighting) WA State Energy Code Lighting Power Allowance (LPA) baseline Energy savings calculated from lighting compliance forms Lighting must be minimum 10% more efficient than code $0.20/kWh up to 100% of incremental cost 13
14 Commercial HVAC Incentives On-going HVAC incentive Programs: High-efficiency Commercial HVAC Unit Replacement Incentives of $100/ton to $550/ton Commercial HVAC Rooftop Unit Premium Service incentive Get up to 70% the cost of a Premium Service Maintenance Package performed by a qualified contractor 14
15 Commercial Kitchen Equipment Incentives Any commercial kitchen use served by PSE electricity or natural gas or both PSE will incentivize high-efficiency ENERGY STAR equipment Customers can receive incentives by completing application OR from purchasing at an approved kitchen distributor (off-invoice rebate) Incentives range from $100 to $7,000 per unit, depending on type of equipment Current qualifying equipment include: Fryers Steamers Griddles Hot Food Holding Cabinets Ice Machines Convection, Combi, Conveyer, Rack, and Deck Ovens Condensing Water Heaters (tank or tankless) & Boilers Dishwashers *DCKV on the horizon! 15
