1 Englisch Floortec 2C Epoxy Floor Sealer 848 Floortec 2K-Epoxi-Siegel 848 silk gloss, water dilutable, mild odor, for interior use, with Floortec Epoxy Hardener 849 Properties Water dilutable, mild odor, solvent-free two-component floor sealer for interior use. Silk gloss, hard-wearing and resistant to diluted lyes, weak acids, oils, gasoline, water and aqueous saline solutions (such as road salt). In addition, easy to apply, water-vapor-permeable, and with good adhesive properties and hiding power. Floortec Decochips 843 may be spread into the final coating for an alternative surface effect. Field of application For colorful sealers subject to pedestrian and vehicular traffic on mineral surfaces in interior areas with a light to medium stressing, e.g., in storage, basement, cold storage and salesrooms, privately used single and double garages (not in underground car parks or parking garages) and on industrial floors. On intact mineral substrates, such as cement screed (CT) and concrete (C), wall plaster (mortar group PII, PIII), intact epoxide resin coatings, etc. In combination with Floortec 2C Aqua Base 809, it can also be used on calcium sulphate screed (CA anhydrite floor). Also suitable as colored top sealer on Floortec 2C Aqua Thick Film 810. Material description Standard colors: Scala Designation RAL 7030 stone grey RAL 7032 pebble grey Using the Brillux Color System a great number of medium-dark and dark colors can be mixed. Additional color designs with Floortec Decochips 843 are possible. Degree of gloss: silky gloss Base material: water-dilutable two-component epoxide resin Density: Approx 1.4 g/cm³ Packaging: 3 kg, 10 kg (hardener in separate packaging) Use Waiting time In order to ensure a higher color accuracy for material tinted using the Brillux Color System wait one day before applying it. Mixing Mix Floortec 2C Epoxy Floor Sealer 848 with Floortec Epoxy Hardener 849 with the mixing ratio given. Make sure that container of the hardener is completely empty. Thoroughly mix the two components until a ream-free homogenous mass is produced. For this purpose, we recommend the use of a slowly running stirrer (max. 400 rpm) with special 2C stirrer in order to prevent air being mixed in. Subsequently repot the mass in another container and stir well again. After mixing, add Floortec Safe-Step 841, as required. Status: Page 1 of 12

2 Mixing ratio 1 part by weight of Floortec Epoxy Hardener 849 in 6 parts by weight of Floortec 2C Epoxy Floor Sealer 848 (4.5:1 parts by volume for the standard colors mentioned). Pre-reaction time Permit to pre-react for at least 10 minutes after mixing. Dilution If required, thin with water. As a matter of principle, dilute after mixing. Dilute the primer by up to 10 %, the intermediate and final coat by up to 5 %, depending on the substrate absorbency. Optional addition for anti-slip variant Floortec Safe-Step 841 To obtain an anti-slip surface, mix the final coat with 3 weight % of Floortec Safe-Step 841. The lid of the container can be used as a dosing aid (see below). To ensure uniform application, we recommend using our short-piled paint roller Addition with 3 kg + hardener: 3,5 lid fillings* Floortec Safe- Step 841 (approx. 105 g). - Addition with 10 kg + hardener: 12 lid fillings* Floortec Safe- Step 841 (approx. 350 g). * Fill lid to lower edge of toothed fluting. Important: The white sealing pad must be in place. Tinting Do not tint. Compatibility Only mixable with similar materials and those specified in this Data Sheet. Application Evenly apply Floortec 2C Epoxy Floor Sealer 848 using a longbristled brush and a paint roller, e.g. the Polyamide Paint Roller 1314 or the Premium Short- Fiber Paint Roller When Floortec Safe Step 841 is added, use the Short-Fiber Paint Roller 1217 for application. In the case of intensive colors, we recommend applying an additional colorless sealer, using Floortec 2C PUR Matt Sealer 844 or Floortec 2C PUR Gloss Sealer 845. Comply with the corresponding instructions. Pot life (at +20 C) Two hours maximum. Do not dilute and do not continue to appply the material after the pot life has come to an end. Higher temperatures will reduce the pot life. Consumption (per layer) Approx. 200 to 250 g/m². Avoid excessively thick layers (more consumption). Determine exact consumption by means of a test application on the object to be coated. The consumption data in keeping with the respective test certificate apply for a tested, non-slipping system. Application temperature Do not apply below +10 C and over 30 C of ambient, substrate and material temperature. Observe the dew point temperature. Apply at a minimum of 3 C over the dew point. The relative humidity must not exceed 80 %. Tool cleaning Clean tools immediately after use with water and and wetting agent. Drying (+20 C, 65 % relative humidity) Waiting time between the individual work step at least twelve hours. In order to achieve a good adhesion to the substrate without grinding, applying has to be continued within 48 hours. Load-bearing after abt. 7 days. Apply Floortec 2C PUR Matt Sealer 844 or Floortec 2C PUR Gloss Sealer 845 within 36 hours (after 12 hours, at the earliest). Allow longer drying times at lower temperatures and/or higher air humidity. Ensure good ventilation during the drying and curing phase. The Blower TG can be used to promote the drying process. Storage Store in a cool and dry location. Reseal opened containers tightly. Declaration Water pollution classification Class 2, according to VwVwS Product code RE1. 5 Coating build-up Substrate preparation The substrate must be solid, dry, clean, load-bearing, with good adhesiveness and free from separating agents or other intermediate layers affecting the adhesion. The substrate must comply with the construction standards. The minimum adhesive pull strength must be 1.5 N/mm2. Depending on the strain, a minimum substrate strength is required. For light stress - for example a simple walking load or low-intensity light vehicular traffic with soft tyres - a minimum strength class of CT 30, C 20/25 or CA 30. For medium stress, for example, heavy walking load and vehicular traffic by cars, a strength class of min. CT 40, C30/37 or CA 40. Where the stress is high, for example fork-lift truck traffic, minimum CT 50, C 35/45 or CA 50. The substrate must be protected from rising damp. The residual moisture of concrete and cement screed must not exceed 4 CM% and for calcium sulphate screed (anhydrite screed) must not exceed 0.5 CM%. Smooth floor surfaces, for example surfaces smoothed with a steel smoothing tool must be roughened in order to improve adhesion. Calcium sulphate screeds must be rubbed down by machine (grain size 16) and vacuumed. Please observe leaflet 7/1990 published by the Estrich und Belag e.v Association (BEB). Any contamination present, such as oil, grease, rubber marks, etc. and nonbearing layers, such as 1C and non-bearing 2C coats, must be removed using a process suitable for the object in question, for example by chemical stripping, milling, dust-free shot-blasting. Data Sheet 848 Intact, solid and firmly adhering 2C coats must be cleaned and lightly sanded, or matt blasted. All substrates that are to be treated in the system application with scratch, shrink hole or compensation filling (self-leveling coating) must be de-coated and pretreated using the shot blasting method. Fill any minor breakouts and damaged areas on mineral substrates with a mixture suitable for filler knife application of Floortec 2C-Epoxy Sealer 848 and Floortec Quartz Sand 1526, to create a smooth surface. Fill any larger damaged areas (more than 5mm deep) using repair mortar from the Brillux concrete protection system, to create a smooth surface. Also refer to VOB Part C, DIN 18363, Par. 3. In order to obtain a uniform surface in color and degree of gloss apply the final coat as thinly and evenly as possible. Dew point temperature If the dew point temperature limit (in particular in the hot summer months) is not taken into consideration, patches of varied gloss can occur, e.g. in cellar rooms and garages with inadequate ventilation. The use of suitable ventilation technology is recommended as necessary. Detrimental changes in appearance Constituents from organic substances (e.g. tea, coffee, red wine, plant parts, leaves, etc.) and chemicals such as disinfectants and acids may result in changes in the coating's color. Abrasive stress may result in scratches on the surface. The functionality is not affected by these changes in appearance. Discolorations caused by plastic materials Contact with plastic materials, e.g. profiles, sealants, and vehicle tires may result in changes in the coating s color shade. Page 8 of 12

9 Existing coating that is not intact Using a paint stripper to remove reversible faulty coating will not always solve the problem and in addition has to be checked for ecological reasons. Twocomponent coats cannot be removed with a chemical stripper. Almost all mechanical methods of removing faulty surfaces will change the surface in such a way that additional levelling measures are required. Given sufficient stability of the substrate, we recommend the use of a thick layer of twocomponent floor coating. Cleanability of anti-slip coatings Non-slipping coatings increase the functional safety, but due to their higher roughness they are more susceptible to soiling, and not as easy to clean as smooth surfaces. If Floortec Safe-Step 841 is used, the disadvantages of an anti-slip surface are reduced to a minimum by the roundness of the minute glass balls it contains. Execution in brilliant or intensive color shades Brilliant, pure and intensive color shades, such as yellow, orange, red, magenta, and yellow-green, have a lower covering capacity due to the pigments used. For critical colors in these tones, we recommend first applying a coordinated base color (basecode) with full coverage. It may also be necessary to apply more coats than specified in the standard application scheme. Implementation in color If intensive colors are used, the pigments on the surface are frequently degraded. This is not a technical or functional defect and is not a valid reason for making complaints. An additional colorless seal using Floortec 2K PUR Matt Sealer 844 or Floortec 2C PUR Gloss Sealer 845 prevents this and improves the cleanability. Area of use: surfaces treated with /transparent-sealed surfaces Surfaces treated with transparent sealer have the properties corresponding to the transparent sealer used. They are suitable for areas with medium mechanical stress and can be driven on with pneumatic-tired vehicles, e.g. cars. Damage to the appearance cannot be completely prevented even on transparentsealed surfaces. Ingredients of organic substances and chemicals (e.g. of tea, coffee, red wine, plant parts, and leaves, as well as disinfectants and acids, etc.) can result in color shade changes in the coating to the same extent as contact with plastics, e.g. profiles, sealants, and vehicle tires. These changes in appearance do not affect the functionality. Duration of utilization Sealers and coats on floor surfaces are subject to userelated wear. The individual duration of utilization depends significantly on the thickness of the layer and the intensity of the stress. Exposure to the effects of grinding (such as that due to hard chair casters, sand, chips, metal shavings, etc.) may result in light-colored, even whitish scratches and scores and have a negative impact on the appearance. Intensity and visibility depends on the color shade selected. This does not affect the technical functionality of the floor surfaces. Using filled surfaces Filling with a floor leveling compound is solely restricted to accessible areas with a light to medium mechanical load such as that occurring, e.g., in living areas, offices, boutiques, etc. These surfaces must not be exposed to vehicular traffic. We recommend using suitable polycarbonate protective mats in areas that are subject to chair castor stress. The specified minimum layer thicknesses of the filler compound must be adhered to when sealing smoothed surfaces. An alternative sealing cannot be used on surfaces that are not dimensionally stable, such as chipboards or mastic asphalt because of the increased risk of crack formation. The smoothed floor surfaces may still have fine pores even after sealing. Cleaning and care For cleaning and care of the sealed floor surfaces, the "Cleaning and Care Instructions 848p" are available as a separate description of the implementation.
