4 LUMINAIRE OVERVIEW The RLP1/3D is a highly customizable luminaire with many different configurations. As such, these assembly instructions are not specific to any particular configuration, and are applicable to most normal installations. Please see the submittal for additional information pertaining to mounting locations and other specifications. 5 Installation: Drywall Ceiling - Powered Canopy EXAMPLE APPROVAL DRAWING 1 See Approval Drawing for Mounting Locations See approval drawing for powered and non-powered mounting locations. Install framing or 1/4-20 ceiling rods with consideration for exact alignment of powered and non-powered canopies. 4 Install Drywall Install drywall, and cut a 4x4 opening to install J-Box Canopy Adapter Plate. Note thickness of drywall installed. EXAMPLE APPROVAL DRAWING 5/8 1/2 1/8 1/8 3/8 2 Install Octagonal 4 x4 J-Box Install octagonal 4 x4 J-Boxes (sold separately) for powered canopy locations directly into framing using two screws. With approval drawing, determine exact spacing between J-Boxes to ensure accurate fixture alignment. 5 Install Canopy Spacers (If Necessary) The J-Box Canopy Adapter Plate comes pre-assembled with a single 3/8 Canopy Adapter Ring. For 1/2 and 5/8 wall thicknesses, unscrew 3/8 Canopy Adapter Ring and add included 1/8 Canopy Spacers as appropriate. 3 Install Remote Driver Install remote driver in an accessible/serviceable location. Run low voltage wire from driver to J-Box in accordance with federal/state/local electrical codes. See approval drawing for powered canopy locations. 6 Install J-Box Adapter Plate Attach the J-Box Canopy Adapter Plate using two screws as shown. RLP1/3D Installation Guide Surface 5 of 12 IG A.0

6 Installation: Drywall Ceiling - Powered Canopy (Cont.) Test Assembly Alignment Prior to mudding-in fixture and wiring, test fit entire assembly for alignment: Follow steps 1-7 to assemble each powered canopy. Follow steps to assemble each non-powered canopy. Adjust J-Box placement as necessary. 8 Mud-In Fixture Mud in area surrounding Canopy Adapter Ring as shown. SHOCK HAZARD! May result in serious injury or death. Turn power OFF at circuit breaker prior to installation or servicing. To Class 2 LED Driver (not shown) V- (Blue) V+ (Brown) 7A Assemble Powered Sub-Assemblies Assemble powered sub-assemblies on the ground prior to installation. Assembly instructions may vary depending on the specified configuration. CAUTION: Do not twist wires greater than Connect Wiring Once mud and paint are dry, connect wiring from light fixture to Class 2 LED remote driver. 7B Tighten Set Screws Rotate each lighting tube into desired orientation/ alignment and tighten set screws with 2mm Allen key. 8 Installation: Drywall Ceiling - Non-Powered Canopy 12A Attach Mount Directly to Stud Non-powered canopies may be attached directly to framing/stud using appropriate hardware. 14A Connect Sub-Assemblies Non-powered connections between sub-assemblies should be made after all powered sections are assembled and mounted. 12B Using Toggle Bolts with Drywall Toggle bolts may also be used to secure Canopy Mounting Plate directly into drywall. 14B Tighten Set Screws Rotate each lighting tube into the desired orientation/ alignment and tighten set screws. 13 Raise Install fixture Canopy Cover Plate Install Canopy Cover Plate over Trim Ring. 15 Turn Power On Turn switch ON and check if fixture lights up as intended and that there are no loose connections. For 1/2 and 5/8 wall thicknesses, unscrew 3/8 Canopy Adapter Ring and add included 1/8 Canopy Spacers as appropriate. 18 Mount J-Box onto Ceiling Rod Mount J-Box onto ceiling rod as shown, using two locknuts to secure bracket on rod. 21 Install J-Box Canopy Adapter Plate Install J-Box Canopy Adapter Plate using 2 screws as shown. To Class 2 LED Driver (not shown) V- (Blue) V+ (Brown) 22 Drill Hole into Ceiling Tile and Mount in Place Drill a minimum 2.25 diameter hole into ceiling tile to allow attachment of canopy assembly to J-Box. 24 Connect Wiring Connect wiring from light fixture to Class 2 LED remote driver. 23A Assemble Powered Sub-Assemblies Assemble powered sub-assemblies on the ground prior to installation. Assembly instructions may vary depending on the specified configuration. CAUTION: Do not twist wires greater than Secure Canopy Mounting Plate Secure Canopy Adapter Plate to Canopy Adapter Ring using two 6-32 screws. 23B Tighten Set Screws Rotate each lighting tube into the desired orientation/ alignment and tighten set screws with 2mm Allen key. 11 Installation: Grid Ceiling - Non-Powered Canopy 27 Install Grid Ceiling Suspension Mount Bracket Install Grid Ceiling Suspension Mount Bracket onto ceiling rod using two locknuts as shown. 30A Connect Sub-Assemblies Non-powered connections between sub-assemblies should be made after all powered sections are assembled and mounted. 28 Install Canopy Drill holes in ceiling to install canopy to Grid Ceiling Suspension Mounting Bracket. Raise canopy to ceiling, and use two 8-32 screws to secure Canopy Mounting Plate directly onto bracket. 30B Tighten Set Screws Rotate each lighting tube into desired orientation/ alignment and tighten set screws. 29 Install Canopy Cover Plate Install Canopy Cover Plate over trim ring. 31 Turn Power On Turn switch ON and check if fixture lights up as intended and that there are no loose connections. 12 Troubleshooting Only a certified electrician can service and troubleshoot product field issues. Always turn main power off before servicing fixture. Full Fixture does not illuminate Ensure all wire connections are made. Ensure fixture is wired correctly and power is on. Check that circuit breaker is on and not off or tripped. Class 2 LED remote driver may be defective. Fixture section(s) do not illuminate Possible loose low voltage DC + or - connection between LED boards or from LED driver to LED boards. Some fixtures contain multiple LED drivers. In this case, it s possible one of the drivers is defective, which will cause the LED connected to the driver not to illuminate. Call tech support. Full fixture is flickering 0-10V, DMX, and DALI Dimming Models: Ensure polarity is correct for DATA + and - connections. Swapping DATA + and - connections can cause flickering. TRIAC Dimming Models: Ensure a compatible TRIAC Forward Phase dimmer is connected to fixture. Call tech support for further information. Possible loose DATA + and - connections from fixture to 0-10V, DMX, or DALI control. Possible loose low voltage DC + or - connection from driver to LED. Call customer support. Fixture section(s) are flickering Possible loose low voltage DC + or - connection between LED boards. Fixture does not dim 0-10V, DMX, and DALI Dimming Models: Ensure polarity is correct for DATA + and - connections. Swapping DATA + and - connections can cause flickering. TRIAC Dimming Models: Ensure a compatible TRIAC Forward Phase dimmer is connected to fixture. Call tech support for further information.
