6 TYPE 100 THE ULTIMATE MOVABLE ACOUSTIC WALL Our Type 100 is the top of the range and market leader in the world of movable walls. It consists of individually operated top hung panels requiring no floor tracks. Purpose made panels can be manufactured to clients specific requirements, offering total space flexibility, long lasting use and high standards of finishes, sound reduction and durability. Our Type 100 is ideal for use in hotels, conference centres, lecture theatres, civic halls, boardroom/meeting rooms and office environments. It is particularly adaptable to the demands of complex multifunctional usage requirements for both corporate and public environments regardless of size, finish or acoustic properties. 4

7 MANUAL OR ELECTRIC OPERATION? Electric Operation An increasing number of customers are choosing the added benefits of electronically operated movable walls that enable them to move panels into position with the minimum of effort. Choose from either semi-electric or fully electric operation and create rooms and sub-divided areas at the press of a switch for relatively little expense and minimal running costs. Type 100M - Manual Operation Panels incorporate top and bottom retractable seals operated via a removable crank handle. This handle when turned (3 to 4 turns only required) drives the rapid action scissor winding mechanism, which extends the spring loaded pressure rods. This activates the deep seated operable seals independently at the top and bottom of each panel. This type of sealing mechanism is ideally suited to deal with floor level differences of up to 20mm over certain distances. Seal pressure of 2KN per linear meter minimum is exerted therefore ensuring maximum panel/wall stability, sound reduction and minimum sound transmission. Horizontal tolerances are taken up with the telescopic panels thrust unit which can take the form of an external sleeve or internal tongue format. Type 100SE - Semi-electric The semi-electric version still requires panels to be moved to the required location manually but alleviates the need for the handle winding process as the panels top and bottom retractable seals and telescopic thrust unit is driven electronically. The exact sealing pressure is therefore guaranteed every time the wall is used, eliminating the possibility of human error and, therefore, ensuring that maximum levels of sound reduction are obtained. This operation mode also reduces the room setting up process for the end user for minimal more expense. Type 100E - Fully electric The fully electric version has the added advantage of taking away the need to manually move the panels into position and will return them to the closed or stored position all at the press of a wall mounted switch or via remote control. The fully electric system can also be co-ordinated with other control systems within a building, such as security and fire alarms and set lighting conditions according to certain combinations of wall positions. Panels are 105mm thick regardless of the sound reduction level required, and consist of a stable double skin single panel construction of up to 19mm thick, 3 layer high density chipboard, clad to a unique steel bracket frame construction, ensuring maximum rigidity yet allowing board flexibility with vertical exposed or concealed panel edge profiles. 5

8 TYPE 100 KEEPING THE SOUND INSIDE The client s specification for this auditorium was to sub-divide it into two acoustically separate lecture theatres. It called for a design that provided the acoustic qualities of an auditorium whilst using panel finishes that fitted in with the architects interior design. The maple veneered panels shown are moving from their stored position, along hidden ceiling tracks, into the middle of the seating area to create a smaller theatre at the front. A double row of panels was installed to achieve the exceptionally high acoustic separation required. This illustration shows one half of the special micro-perforated (for sound absorption purposes) maple veneered panels stacked alongside one side wall and stored in a way that is both aesthetically pleasing as well as retaining the acoustic quality of the auditorium. 6

9 HOW WE DO IT... ACOUSTICALLY Movable walls are mainly required in areas that need to give consideration to the level of noise travelling between the partitioned rooms. Sound reduction is achieved using dense cladding, adding internal insulation materials within the panels and by using deep seated mechanically operated retractable seals set to a high sealing pressure applied by worm screw drive and deep interlocking vertical seals. Movawall systems offer the highest level of acoustic ratings available - our Type 100 can achieve sound reduction ratings up to Rw 58dB. Walls are measured in accordance with DIN EN Movawall Type 100 walls are constantly being developed and confirmed by recognised testing authorities to achieve higher acoustic levels and greater client satisfaction. Made to measure special versions are also available upon request. Movawall Type 100 not only offers high levels of sound reduction but also a combination of acoustically absorbent panel facings. Special panel surface finishes can help maintain or improve the acoustic qualities of existing sound conditions. Panel faces can vary from acoustically absorbent slotted boards to improve sound absorption levels of a room to the use of soft fabrics to control levels of noise reverberation. 13 acoustic case study MOVING TO THE MUSIC This West London Recording Studio was the result of two years working together with the architect, acoustician and client to produce a flexible recording suite. This ability to acoustically separate specific areas of the studio floor allows the artists to record as a group or as individuals for the tracks to be mixed later. The Danish oiled oak veneered finished panels have been fitted with sound absorbent pads within a stainless steel frame. These can be removed to reveal an acoustic glazed sealed unit that allows visual contact between the performers and the control desk. This degree of flexibility would normally be reserved for the largest of studios. 11

Finishes include a full range of high quality veneers, melamine, laminates, steel sheet and texture coverings. Special finishes include joinery cladding, mouldings and inserts, mirrors or clients own purpose made panelling. Our experts are always available to explain the wide range of material options, including the best choice to meet particular needs as well as to discuss the choice of colours and designs that can match or exceed the clients design expectations. We are also able to incorporate custom made finishes and designs wherever it is practical to do so. We can provide installations that don t just provide a practical solution to space problems but enhance the room aesthetically as well, even providing adaptable surfaces for other uses such as displaying information, screen projection or writing on. Fire and Smoke Protection Movawall Type 100 movable Other clients finishes, added materials or even custom made illustrations incorporated into the panel construction, are just some of the many ways to match almost any taste. They can also brighten up an area and enliven a wall that might otherwise only be utilised for it s functional qualities as a room divider. walls are available with F30 1 /2 hour and F60 1 hour fire rated construction. Class 1 and Class 0 Surface Spread of Flame ratings are also available. As can be seen from the adjacent photos, our F30 1 /2 hour tested system incorporates a double pass door panel. 15 TYPE 80 SETTING THE STANDARD Movawall Type 80 system is a top hung movable acoustic wall of lighter construction made up of individual panels designed to give economical but long lasting use in the division of space requiring flexibility and offers good levels of sound reduction and high quality finish. Type 80 is ideal for use in meeting rooms, classrooms, church halls and offices. Panels can be finished in priming sheet for client decoration, standard factory finish in melamine or spray paint, textile coverings, full range of veneers and laminates or to suit clients requirements. Panels are clad with 2 sheets of high density chipboard on a twist resistant aluminium frame with exposed satin anodised aluminium edge profiles to all four sides as standard. Panels incorporate top and bottom retractable seals operated by a single cam action with interlocking male/female profile rebates on its vertical edges. Panels can incorporate TE Telescopic, NE Standard, DT Full height hinged door, SE Single leaf inset pass door, corner/ junction and glazed panels if required. Panels are suspended from heavy duty aluminium ceiling tracks requiring no floor guides. Suspension is available using system Type E single point, Type Z twin point guide roller system or Type K twin point cross roller system to allow remote parking. 16 TYPE 200 FOLDING FLEXIBILITY FROM TOP TO BOTTOM Movawall Type 200 system is an economic sliding and folding partition offering extreme ease of operation and high levels of sound reduction. The system benefits from being offered in a choice of floor supported or top hung alternatives. Panels are connected together with a series of aesthetically appealing matching satin anodised aluminium hinges, which form a flat wall when positioned across the opening. This system offers an alternative solution where overhead support is unavailable and when client s budgets dictate an economic answer. Panels have extra stability by means of a locking arrangement. Each alternate panel contains an espagnolette bolt mechanism operated via a detachable handle at a convenient height from the floor. The locking pin engages the floor rail and top track to ensure the panels close flat, flush and are rigid. The leading panel in the opening can be used as a full height pass door if required. Pass doors have flush pull handles and roller catch fitted; a lock can be fitted as an optional extra. Floor supported option This option allows panels to run on a shallow 9mm high aluminium floor rail designed to fit on top of a raised floor or floor screed. Protruding only 4mm above a finished floor surface the rail is designed to avoid tripping and dirt accumulation. A butyl rubber channel seal fitted to the bottom of each panel, brushes on the floor rail surface only to prevent drag and wear on the floor finishes. Lateral stability of the system is achieved via self lubricating nylon rollers running in a non load bearing adjustable aluminium ceiling track to compensate for variances in height. Top hung option This option allows panels to be hung from an overhead structure via a heavy duty adjustable aluminium head track, which can accommodate height variances. Panels require no floor rail or channel guide and incorporate extended bottom sweep strips to brush against the surface floor finishes. Bottom rollers fitted to alternate panels incorporate axial and radial ball bearings which are dimensioned to bear considerably greater loads than actually occur. 14

17 Panels are clad with 2 sheets 12mm high density chipboard on a rigid and stable aluminium frame, with an interior insulating layer of mineral wool, bitumen mating or special laminated framing with sound break and heavy duty insulation to give high levels of sound reduction up to Rw 52dB. Panels are finished with a satin anodised aluminium edge profile to all four edges and are joined with purpose made satin anodised aluminium hinges using loose pins, making installation quick and simple. Silicon rubber seals are inserted in the vertical edges of each panel and profiles are channelled to receive either a grey PVC perforated seal to absorb sound transmission or matching finished chipboard inserts. 18 TYPE 300 & 400 & 500 CONCERTINA FOLDING PARTITIONS Type 300 Type 300 timber concertina partition system is available in top hung or bottom roller options with finishes available in melamine, laminate and veneer alternatives. We are able to offer levels of sound reduction up to Rw 39dB. Type 500 In addition to our standard products described, Movawall can also accept contracts where purpose made joinery straight sliding or folding doors are required. Please contact our technical team for further details. Type 400 Type 400 vinyl concertina partition system is also available in top hung or bottom roller options. The steel pantograph frame is covered with a flame retardant heavy duty PVC coated fabric available in a large range of colours. Sound reduction is offered at Rw 15dB, Rw 24dB, Rw 31dB and Rw 35 db alternatives. 16

19 SKYWALL NEW BLUE SKY THINKING Vertical Lift Partition System Skywall system gives the flexibility of dividing a room into a separate space for any purpose at the touch of a button. The advantage over conventional systems are no obtrusive stacking arrangements. Simply press the button and partition sections glide gently downwards from the ceiling into position and form an attractive and effective partition between rooms. To retract, simply push the button and the Skywall s unique design withdraws the system into a hidden compartment in the ceiling void, removing the system from view. The Skywall system is a fully patented partition that comprises three main design elements. A fully flat finished surface comprising of separate interlocking individual elements. A side rail guidance system. The storage magazine and drive mechanism. Skywall can be used whenever a practical and attractive partition is called for, such as self service bank till areas, conference rooms, canteens, shopping arcades or the executive floor of an office building. When the system is closed, it becomes a safe and secure barrier for stock protection and at the same time an attractive shop window and sales display facility. Finishes and production options can allow the use of corporate identity features, using logos, slogans, photographic and artistic elements included in the final design. The company logo lowered from the ceiling space can provide an ideal opportunity to promote brand identity. With built-in ease of installation to new build or existing premises, with a wide range of finishes available, from powder coating to RAL colour range, wood veneers, plastic coating, mirrors, carpets and wallpapers, to the transparency of the fully glazed version. 17

20 TYPE G100 NEWseen but not heard Fully Glazed Movable Acoustic Wall System Previously clients needed to choose between a solid panel system with sound reducing properties and a glazed non acoustic system; G100 now provides a solution where light and high acoustic performance is combined in one complete system. G100 can be integrated with our solid type 100SE system to create a clear visual separation or a solid look when privacy is needed or when a pass door panel is required. G100 is also available with internal blinds housed within the double glazed unit, which are electrically operated. Product points are - Electrically operated automatic retractable top and bottom panel seals. This guarantees exact seal pressures and therefore acoustic separation, alleviating manual crank handle operation and possible operator error. Sound reduction properties of up to Rw 53dB*. Frame colours available to RAL standard colour range. Panel heights available up to 4000mm and widths up to 1200mm. Visible outer frame thickness of only 33mm to all panel edges. Optional electrically operated remote controlled internal blinds. 22 GLASS TYPE GG FRAMELESS GLASS SLIDING PARTITION SYSTEM Type GG system offers the maximum clear unbroken vision possible with a sliding partition. The all glass top hung individual panels can be moved manually or electronically without the need for floor tracks. All panels are locked to each other and/or the floor offering security and stability. The system can be tailored to create rooms requiring open, inviting and viewable environments, such as shop fronts, showrooms, waiting areas, church halls and other areas that do not necessarily require sound reduction properties. Top and bottom interlocking rails can be finished in a variety of powder coated colours or different type of anodising. 23 GLASS TYPE RG FRAMED GLASS MOVABLE WALL Type RG framed glass movable wall is a top hung individual panel system, suspended on steel or aluminium ceiling tracks with two point suspension for either guide roller parking Type Z or cross roller remote parking Type K. Panels incorporate retractable top and bottom seals and telescopic jamb panel sealing horizontally and vertically which are operated via a removable crank handle. Type RG system is unique in that it offers movable glazed panels together with sound reduction rating of up to Rw 39dB and which can be installed to interconnect with our Type 100 system if required to give a visual and sound performing system. Not only can Type RG system be used in internal situations, it can also be used as an exterior wall utilising a 10mm high floor fixed weather bar which seals the wall against the worst type of weather.
