Road (Near Polytechnic) Kanpur-Nagar Vacancy announcement for on contractual basis Office of the Chief Conservator of Forests, Research, U.P., Kanpur invites applications from interested and eligible professionals on prescribed format for the following for various works under U.P. Participatory Forest Management and Poverty Alleviation Project: 1. 6 for 6 months (Non-Wood Forest Produce-including medicinal, aromatic and dye plants) 2. 8 for 6 months (Joint Forest Management) 3. 1 Assistant for 4 months (Soil and Moisture Conservation work) 4. 2 for 2 months (For Schedule of Rates Survey) The details/instructions, application format etc. may be obtained from the office of the Chief Conservator of Forests, Research, U.P., Kanpur or may be downloaded from the website Applications on prescribed format would be accepted at the address mentioned above only by registered/speed Indian Post till the close date ie. 24 th December 2010 by 5 p.m. only Note: 1-Separate application should be submitted for each category of. 2-Name of Category of Assistant for which the application is being submitted should be specifically mentioned on the envelope. 2 INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS 1. The NWFP, JFM, SMC and Schedule of Rates, Survey are to on contractual basis and the process of their engagement will be open to all Indian citizens. 2. Interested applicants should submit their curriculum vitae (CV) in the prescribed format. (refer-application form) 3. Information must be furnished as specified in the format including two references (alongwith contact numbers/ )- one knowing you personally atleast for past three to five years and another knowing you professionally atleast for past three years who should comment on your skills and experience (your peer or present / earlier head of the organization/ agency). 4. No documents should be attached alongwith the application form. 5. Canvassing or influencing the selection shall be treated as a disqualification. 6. The short listed candidates would have to appear for the interview at Kanpur on their own expenses. 7. The contract for assignment of would be between Conservator of Forests, Silviculturist, Southern Region, U.P., Kanpur and the selected candidate. 8. The letter of appointment would be issued by the Chief Conservator of Forests, (Research), U.P., Kanpur to the successful candidates only. 9. Chief Conservator of Forests, (Research), U.P., Kanpur reserves the right to reject any or all applications without assigning any region thereof. TERMS AND CONDITIONS: General terms of employment for all announced position- 1. Emoluments: A consolidated all inclusive pay of Rs.12,000 per month for each category of. Income tax will be deducted as per rules. 2. Pension / Gratuity: No Pension, gratuity or other additional benefits are applicable for any of the positions announced 3. Perks and Allowances: No perks and allowances are admissible. 4. Leave: No leave is admissible. 5. Travel: Actual expenses shall be admissible for travel in project area. 6. Contract renewal and termination: will for the duration as mentioned in the contract. The contract could be terminated by either party giving one month s notice.

3 Details for NWFP 1 to Non-Wood Forest Produces (NWFP) 2 No. of 6 for 6 months 4 Age of (i) For persons, who retired as Dy. Ranger or above from Candidate Forest Department or was/is holding equivalent post of Central Govt./ State Govt./ Union Territories (U.T.s)/ Institutions / Universities / Board must have been born on or after Work Experience * To assist in studies on non-wood forest produces including medicinal, aromatic and dye plants. * To assist in activities relating to in situ and ex situ conservation of such plants/ produces. * To help in developing economics of cultivating such plants/produces vis a vis conventional Forestry/Horticulture crops. * To assist UP forest department officers in- (a) Developing species/produces specific models (with techniques) for in situ conservation and cultivation in the fields of the farmers. (b) Standardizing harvesting/ storage/ processing techniques. (c) Developing linkages with the end users of the produces. equivalent grade points) from recognized educational board. (ii) Language-Good verbal and writing skills in Hindi and English. * Knowledge of forestry and forest based NWFP related sector. * Knowledge of traditional medicines, natural aromas, dyes. * Exposure in working with forest dependent communities. * Good inter personal communication and analytical skills. 4 Details for J.F.M. 1 to Joint Forest Management (JFM) 2 No. of 8 for 6 months 4 Age of (i) For persons, who retired as Dy. Ranger or above from forest Candidate department or was/is holding equivalent post of Central Govt./ State Govt./ Union Territories (U.T.s)/ Institutions / Universities / Board must have been born on or after Work Experience * To be conversant/familiar with J.F.M. Rules of U.P. State. * Extensive tour of project area and intensive interaction with the office bearers/members of J.F.M.C.s. * Study, compile, and analyse site specific needs of the areas managed under J.F.M. * Preparation and critical appraisal of microplans of J.F.M. areas and Participatory Rural Appraisal exercises. * Assist in developing economically sustainable plantation models for J.F.M. areas. * Assist in developing models of Forest Resources Management to meet the expectation of J.F.M.Cs. equivalent grade points) from recognized educational board. Ranger or above from forest/ Soil conservation/ Agriculture department or was/is holding equivalent post of Central Govt./ State Govt./ Union Territories (U.T.s)/ Institutions / Universities / Board must have been born on or after * Extensive tour of project area and intensive interaction with the Territorial Forest Officials to decide site specific needs of soil and moisture conservation works. * Study, compile, and suggest site specific sustainable models of soil and moisture conservation works in the project area. * To carry out sample soil and moisture conservation treatment in the project area to satisfy the specific needs ofa micro watershed. * To assist in developing model of soil and moisture conservation structures. equivalent grade points) from recognized educational board (ii) Language-Good verbal and writing skills in Hindi and English. * Knowledge of Agriculture/ forestry/soil science, soil and moisture conservation activities, surface hydrology.
