1 MINISTRY OF FINANCE AND ECONOMIC AFFAIRS VACANCIES Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified persons to fill various vacant posts for Regional Secretariats and Local Government Authorities. 1.0 JOB TITLE : ACCOUNTANT GRADE II (236 POSTS) 1.1 Duties and Responsibilities: (v) (vi) Prepare and authorize payment vouchers Prepare monthly revenue and expenditure reports Prepare Bank reconciliation statements Supervise accounts activities in the departments Prepare Accounts reports on Development Projects Prepare and operate special funds Accounts. 1.2 Qualifications and Experience: Holder of Bachelor of Commerce/Arts majoring in Accountancy from recognized Higher Learning Institution. OR Holder of Advanced Diploma in Accountancy/Government Accounting from recognized Higher Learning Institution. OR Holder of Intermediate Certificate issued by NBAA. 2 2.0 JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT (54 POSTS ) 2.1 Duties and Responsibilities: Cashier of the Ministry, Independent Department, Region Maintain inward and outward cheques Register Prepare datasheets for any adjustment/transfer Scrutinise payment vouchers for Warrant Holders Collect replies from various Divisions, compile and put them in a presentable format and submit to the Resident Auditor. Process payments for terminal benefits for retired government employees. 2.2 Qualifications and Experience: Holder of Higher Standard Government Accountancy Certificate issued by TPSC. OR Diploma in Accounting from recognized learning Institution. Proven practical experience of at least one year in a similar field. Computer Literate. 3.3 Remuneration: According to Government Salary Scale - TGS C. 3.0 JOB TITLE : ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT (188 POSTS) 3.1 Duties and Responsibilities: (v) (vi) Processing and issuing Warrant of Funds Consolidate monthly expenditure reports Maintain Safari Imprests and standby imprest registers Send datasheets to PO-PSM and to collect payrolls and deduction sheets from Computer Services Division Maintain Register of Audit Queries Facilitate any payment for employees in the Division. 3.2 Qualifications : Holder of ATEC level II issued by NBAA. OR Holder of foundation level issued by NBAA Computer Literate. 2

3 3.3 Remuneration: According to Government Salary Scale TGS. B. 4.0 JOB TITLE: INTERNAL AUDITOR GRADE II (139 POSTS) 4.1 Duties and Responsibilities: (v) (vi) Assist in identifying and evaluating the organization s risk areas and provide inputs to the development of the Annual Audit Plan. Perform audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analyzing evidence and documenting client processes and procedures. Review and report in the reliability and integrity of financial data used in preparation of financial statements. Review and report on the use and safeguard of Government Assets. Review and report on compliance to control Government expenditure. Identify, develop and document audit issues and recommendations using independent judgment concerning areas being reviewed. 4.2 Qualifications and Experience: Holder of Bachelor of Commerce/Arts majoring in Accountancy from recognized Higher Learning Institution. OR Holder of Advanced Diploma in Accountancy/Government Accounting from recognized Higher Learning Institution. OR Holder of Intermediate Certificate issued by NBAA. GENERAL CONDITIONS TO ALL POSTS Applicants are strongly required to mention/select three Regions or Local Government Authorities of their Preferences in their application letter, failure to do so, the application will not be processed. Applications must be handwritten, supported by CVs, copies of Certificates or Certified Academic transcripts and two recent passport size photo reach to the undersigned on or before 30 th October, Names and contact addresses of three referees. Applicants who have/were retired from the Public Service for whatever reasons should not apply. Any application without relevant documents will not be considered. Applicants must not be above 45 years except for those who are in the Public Service.. Applicants who applied and were selected in the previous year but could not report to the Stations should not bother to apply.
