8 Challenges North Sea Strategy 2030 in NL Long term vision (2050): Safe, clean, healthy and ecologically diverse North Sea that contributes to the country s economic and social needs Five themes identified: 1) Building with nature 2) Energy transition at sea 3) Multiple use of space 4) Connection between land and sea 5) Accessibility and shipping North Sea Strategy 2030 focusses on: Energy transition and roadmap 2.0: ca 1 GW/yr between Increase food production (aqua- and mari-culture) and consequences for fishery sector Effective management of Natura 2000 areas 8 Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment

9 Questions with regard to energy transition (Uncertain) political ambition to increase to 2 GW /yr on land and sea? Environmental impacts, cumulated also with neighboring countries? Are present areas at sea enough in size? Which order to build? To use DC or AC? What does this mean for the connection to the hinterland? How much time do these preparations and studies require? How does the relation with existing oil/gas infrastructure: (electrification, CO2 storage, Power to Gas) looks like? When are platforms to be abandoned/removed?
