2 Halifax Water Overview Regulated water wastewater and stormwater utility serving 350,000 population in greater Halifax area. Distribution: 3 regions ringing Halifax Harbour with 1500 km of distribution mains. Airport Aerotech distribution system. Treatment: JD Kline direct filtration plant (90 MLD). Lake Major conventional filtration plant (45 MLD) Bennery Lake conventional filtration plant (8 MLD). Two small ultra/nanofiltration plants

4 Halifax Water History with PSW 1995: PSW Established by AWWA and partners. 1999: Water Loss Control Program started. 2003: JD Kline Plant registered as ISO compliant. 2004: Halifax Water participated in AWWA G-100 standard. 2005: Water Quality Master Plan adopted. 2007: Halifax Water enrolls in IWTA. 2013: AWWA opened PSW to international partners and Halifax Water enrolls in May Completed Phase II of partnership for distribution and treatment in 2014.

18 Final thoughts Submitting annual data is not a major exercise. Partnership staff and partnership utilities are there to help you succeed. Volunteer opportunties to be trained as a peer reviewer. Halifax Water plan: Commence phase III report for one distribution system and one treatment plant in fiscal year. Set goals for first report. Begin other phase III reports sequnetially. 18
