4 9109/r4 Page 1 of Background This survey was implemented in accordance with the scope of works prepared by the client and the locations of watercourse crossing locations submitted separately. The survey was conducted to evaluate the qualitative characteristics of surface water bodies crossed by the WREP pipeline that are to be rehabilitated. The scope of chemical study was discussed with representatives of BP Georgia and was included in TOR for the survey. The sampling locations were identified during the field hydrological survey which was conducted prior to the present study. The geographic coordinates and access maps have been prepared by the client and submitted to the survey team. The scientific research firm GAMMA personnel in accordance to the SoW has visited the sampling sites, collected samples, carried out the field measurements as required, took photos and delivered samples to the Gamma Laboratory complex for detailed laboratory analysis. 2. Methodology The study was conducted using the methodology described below: Surface water quality sampling was completed at watercourse crossings and photographed at each location. The suite of criteria shown below was measured in the field, as being indicative of water quality and suitable for testing on site. All field parameters were recorded using a portable WTW and Hach field testers and included: ph Temperature (Temp) Specific Conductance (SpC) Dissolved Oxygen (DO) Surface water samples were also to be collected for further analysis. Target analyses are listed below along with the relevant analytical methodology: Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (DRO) - GC-FID after solvent extraction company has established GC-FID Perkin-Elmer, Clarus 500. Metals the test for 13 target metals using Atomic Absorption method (US EPA and ISO methods) using AAS Produced By Perkin Elmer (with flame on different gases), AAS-400, and Hitachi (thermal cell)
5 9109/r4 Page 2 of 13 COD was measured using the titrimetric method (standard ISO method for the accuracy requirements are not very high we use titrimetric method for COD tests) Sulphate was measured using gravimetric methods Barium / Calcium Turbid metric method was used for Barium analysis, and AAS for calcium Chloride was measured using Standard ISO method with titrimetric wet chemistry. Carbonate/Bicarbonate was measured using standard titrimetric method in the laboratory. 3. The sampling Sampling was accomplished during the period th April At all required sampling points the sampling coordinates have been collected and photo log created. Meteorological conditions during the sampling activities were following: Sampling Date Weather conditions 27/04/09 Sunny, without precipitation; Still 28/04/09 Sunny, without precipitation; Still 29/04/09 Sunny, without precipitation; Still Ambient air temperature, C Acknowledgments During the sampling activities the project team was supported by BP personnel and we want to express our acknowledgement to their support. 4. The sampling locations The samples were collected in accordance to the sampling point references provided by the client, the sampling points were determined in accordance to the water crossing maps with indication of general chainage marking of the pipeline, special maps with indication of access

Water quality sample quality assurance protocols Analytical quality assurance (QA) protocols appropriate for the surface water sampling study were adopted for the study. The QA/QC system existing in the laboratory was modified in accordance to the sample collection and delivery specifics for the current study. Together with the field and sampling practices employed, these were adequate to ensure sufficient confidence in the analytical results for the level of conclusions sought from the investigation. The laboratory s internal QA/QC measures included: Single-use sample containers; Submission of selected (blind) sample duplicates; Laboratory measurement of sample pack temperature upon receipt; Laboratory inspection of sample vessel integrity upon receipt; Storage of samples within stipulated temperature ranges; Analysis of samples within stipulated maximum holding times; Adherence to analytical QA protocols, to include: lab blanks and spiked analysis within the sample set.
7 9109/r4 Page 4 of 13 For the field testers QA/QC procedures included in laboratory testing and calibration with range of standard samples, measurement of calibration chart series and testing of mean(- root)-square error. 6. Water quality assurance results None of the water samples submitted to the laboratory for analysis, were found on receipt by the laboratory to be either broken or damaged. The sample holding temperatures were within the acceptable range for the time of sample delivery to the laboratory and delivery time of the samples were respected. Analysis of all samples submitted was completed within the stipulated maximum holding times. All samples delivered for microbiology analysis were checked for impermeability, none of them were damaged and no leakage was observed. 7. The results of test carried out in the field The following ingredients have been measured at sampling point: ph, Temperature (Temp), Specific, Conductance (SpC), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Turbidity. The measurements were made by the portable field testers produced by WTW and Hach, calibrated in accordance to the requirements defined by producer. The results of analysis are given in the Table The results of microbiology analysis of water samples In accordance to the SoW samples were collected for microbiological analysis in special, sterile sampling containers. The samples were delivered to the laboratory every day, the storage time of samples did not exceeded 4 hours, the cool box temperature did not exceeded allowable maximum. The results of Microbiology analysis are presented in the Table The results for chemical analysis and heavy metal contents The analysis for chemical parameters and heavy metals were conducted in accordance to scope of work and standard methods for analysis. The general parameters were measured using wet chemistry and gravimetric analysis, the heavy metals with AAS methods. The results of chemical tests are given in Table 4.
8 9109/r4 Page 5 of TPH analysis The samples for TPH analysis were collected in accordance to standard sampling procedure dedicated for TPH analysis. The concentrations of hydrocarbons with C6-C10 fraction and fraction with C>10 were determined. In all samples, where TPH concentration was detected, the pollutant is already degraded, because heavy fractions are left and concentration of light fraction is less. The results of TPH analysis are presented in table 5.

West Tortla South-east of 130 <0.04 < Conclusions The water quality study has been performed for the surface water objects crossed by the WREP. The sampling points have been identified based on the results of hydrological study of the project area. Water quality tests completed in the field indicate the surface waters to exhibit a wide range of conductivity, turbidity, dissolved oxygen and temperature. It should be stated, that the sampling and survey was accomplished at the end of spring at the warm and dry weather. Mostly ph and conductivity readings were in the ranges expected for the objects. The temperature reading in the samples collected at r. West Tortla, South-east of AM 130 indicated the reading around 22C, which is unusual and can be related with sunny weather and stained water. The conductivity readings have indicated that the water TDS (total dissolved solids) varies significantly. Minimum reading was observed at the level of 442 micro siemens/cm and the maximum was 1386 micro siemens/cm. Regarding DO readings, they were mostly within the expected ranges. The results of the microbiological sampling program indicate that Total coliforms and E-coli are present in all samples with different range generally increasing from the west to the east direction, which is not unusual, as soon the impact of human activities is increasing in the surroundings of the sampling points in the same direction. The Coli presence indicates, that the pollution from household wastewater as well as pollution caused by cattle breading exists. Escherichia coli is an intestinal bacteria sourced from the human/animal gut and can
13 9109/r4 Page 10 of 13 be transferred to river systems through the discharge of sewage effluent. The Sulphur Reducing Bacteria (SRB) is present in the samples from Lochini river, in other samples the SRB was not detected. The concentration of dissolved ions in solution is generally low. In terms of heavy metals, it could be stated, that no heavy metal pollution was observed in the tested samples. Some readings of the Zn ion, is related with anthropogenic pressure and pollution from human activities. In terms of the nutrients, the ammonia levels as well as NO 2 readings are below the detection limits of the methods and NO 3 readings are below the MPV levels set for the surface water bodies. Maximum reading for NO 3 was observed in the samples r. West Tortla (South-east of AM 130). The Turbidity and Total suspended solids reading are typical for the objects studied, and no anomalies have been recorded in this regard. The results for TPH were below detection limits.
