2 Job Title: Responsible to: Technical Manager Venue Operations Manager Salary: 24,779 Application Deadline: noon 28 th August 2015 Interview Date: Week Commencing 31 st August 2015 Summary of Post The Liverpool Guild of Students building has reopened September 2014 after a huge 14.25m refurbishment. We are seeking a Technical Manager to lead and manage the technical operation of the refurbished building under the guidance of the Venue Operation Manager. You will lead the technical team in delivering high standards in service and quality to all customers, enhancing the student experience and professional image of the Guild. Main Duties To rota all venue technical staff; including student staff and where required freelance staff, ensuring appropriate competent staffing levels at all events at the venue To oversee the Technical aspects of a production from load in to load out To keep the stage and backstage area clean and tidy and in accordance with Health & Safety guidelines To have a sound working knowledge of the venue and its facilities and where necessary take immediate action to ensure a safe working environment To act as the main point of contact for all enquiries as to the technical operation of the building To ensure that all venue technical specification and information sheets are accurate and up to date. Furthermore to ensure that a specific technical rider is generated for every event following discussions with the relevant artists/production staff Financial To provide the Venue Operations Manager with accurate technical costs incurred for an event including engineers, crew, equipment hire and towel charges To rota all venue technical staff ensuring staff costs are always on budget Manage the technical budget for the Guild ensuring that all consumables and other technical purchased are sourced at the best price.

3 Staffing Providing student staff with high quality training and maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all such training. Plan weekly technical rotas to enable the venue to function effectively without exceeding staff expenditure budgets/ratios. Deal with disciplinary issues with staff, following Guild procedures and working within a national legal framework. Ensure all time sheets are checked and verified in accordance with current guidelines issued by the Finance Manager. To act as in-house engineer (sound/lights) and recruit and manage a team of student staff and engineers to work for the venue as and when required Health & Safety To observe as applicable, and ensure the adherence to: Licensing laws Procedure and instructions relating to fire and accidents Hygiene and Health and Safety Regulations All aspects of consumer law Ensure all technical staff at the venue are equipped with suitable PPE when required. Ensure that all staff work in a safe manner, seeking to minimise hazards to ensure the safety of other staff and customers, reporting and addressing all safety hazards immediately. Ensure all incidences and accidents are reported as appropriate, including the completion of all necessary paperwork. To act as the designated responsible person for stage and backstage areas in the event of an evacuation, ensuring all areas are clear and reporting to Venue Operations Manager To attend show stop meetings and ensure all technical staff are fully aware of in house procedures To liaise with the local council regarding special effects / pyro permissions if required To undertake a Pre-Show checklist prior to every event and ensure that the building is safe and ready for public admittance To ensure the Production Manager / Promoter Rep signs the Health and Safety waiver

4 General As required, act as Duty Manager (Duty Licensee) opening and securing premises, locking up and alarming the premises as necessary. To maintain a flexible working approach towards tasks and hours require To undertake any other reasonable duties as and when required Assist in key events throughout the year, including Welcome Week and including elections, if necessary; Notes The job description is current at 7 th July 2014 and should be reviewed annually. It outlines the main duties of the position and is designed for the benefit of both the post holder and the Guild in understanding the prime functions of the post.
