Your work will help support local services to continue improving the health and wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) young people and support their participation in their local communities. This role will play a key part within the Business Support Team overseeing and managing the Charity s finances in partnership with budget managers, the Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees. 4 ROLE PROFILE Role Title: Finance Manager Team: Business Support Team Location: Based in Edinburgh (with possible travel around Scotland) Salary: 27,303-29,739 per annum, pro-rata (depending on experience) Hours: Part-time hrs per week Core Purpose of the Role: Reports to: Head of Business Support To provide leadership in regards to the financial management of the Organisation To provide strategic financial advice to the National Board, Chief Executive and Leadership Team Agreed by: Fergus McMillan, CEO Date: April 2018 To manage the day to day finances of the Organisation with the support of a part-time Business Support Officer and in partnership with budget managers To report to funders in partnership with budget managers and manage the funding reporting process Principal Responsibilities: To provide line management to a part-time (14hrs/week) Business Support Officer All aspects of bookkeeping; from paying bills to reconciling the bank accounts Maintenance of the organisation s financial records To manage the organisation s finance policy and processes; maintaining the policy and ensuring procedures are adhered to To oversee the organisation s banking arrangements To prepare a monthly payroll submission and liaise with external payroll services To manage the organisation s monthly pension submissions to TPT Retirement Solutions To prepare and update the annual budget; providing a budget template and collating information from budget managers To provide timely and accurate financial reports to budget holders Page 4 of 6

5 To provide timely and accurate management reports to senior management and Finance & HR Committee To manage the funding application and reporting process; recording paperwork and providing financial reports for funders in liaison with budget managers To provide budget management training and support to budget managers when required To organise and chair a budget meeting every two months with budget managers To organise the quarterly Finance & HR Committee meetings and present budget and cash flow projections to a small group of Trustees To prepare for the annual financial audit and assist the organisation s auditors with the preparation of the final accounts General Duties To attend team meetings, one off national staff & volunteer events, supervision and other meetings as required To carry out such other duties as agreed with the organisation Page 5 of 6

6 CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION Role Title: Finance Manager Essential Desirable Education & Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or with equivalent experience Qualified accountant Qualification Higher grade or equivalent level Mathematics Experience, Knowledge and Expertise A minimum of 4 years experience in financial bookkeeping and budgetary management Ability to create key financial reports Experience of the financial management of multiple funding streams Experience of providing strategic financial advice at a senior level Experience in the use of QuickBooks accounting software Knowledge of the third sector financial environment Experience of providing line management Critical Personal Attributes Delivering results Highly organised with a commitment to effective planning Conscientious approach to meeting deadlines and delivery of work to meet the needs of all internal and external customers Ability to multi-task Personal effectiveness Ability to communicate complex information to a variety of stakeholders using appropriate methods A sound work ethic Ability to work independently and use initiative to develop the financial systems and processes within the Organisation Commitment to continual professional development Person centred Comfortable and confident in constructively challenging where necessary Working practices Shows leadership in their approach to work and management, in theory and in practice Pro-active in working towards system and process development and continuous performance improvement Page 6 of 6
