4 » PROFESSIONAL BODIES CHAMPION Develop relationships with Professional Bodies local contacts in the Region. Liaise with the Partnerships Team to ensure information is shared and any leads are passed on.» HIGHER EDUCATION CHAMPION The role of Regional Board HE Champion is intended to play a key part in the development of CMI s HE Partner strategy, and is an important contact point for the designated CMI HE Relationship Manager liaising with that Regional Board. CMI looks to involve Regional Board HE Champions, where appropriate, at the various stages of HE partner relationships in the Region. This is driven by the fact that Regional Board engagement and support for Curriculum Enrichment is seen as a core part of CMI s HE offer and will therefore be relevant when an HE partner relationship is being explored, as well as post-contract, in the delivery phase. While CMI does not expect Regional Board HE Champions to be involved in discussions that are essentially to do with commercial terms, there still needs to be regard to potential conflicts of interest in CMI s broader dealings with the HE sector. It is likely to be of benefit to a Regional Board to have an appropriate representative of the HE sector as a Board member in order to provide that perspective into Board deliberations but the specific role of Regional Board HE Champion inevitably means involvement in CMI s commercial partner relationships in the Region, in what is becoming an increasingly competitive sector. For this reason, it is not considered appropriate for HE Champions to be employees of particular Higher Education Institutes (HEIs), and, depending on the circumstances, it may not be appropriate for HE Champions to have commercial relationships with particular HEIs. In light of the above, we have now delineated the original role and created both Higher Education Champion and Education Providers Champion roles. Must be a current member of CMI or IC. This role is not available to current HE employees. Develop a two way relationship with the Partnerships Team to ensure information is shared on any activity in the region with HE Partners and potential HE Partners. To be the point of contact for the delivery of HE curriculum enrichment activities. Support the Regional Board Members in the presentation of the benefits of membership to local learners.
5 » EDUCATION PROVIDERS CHAMPION Must be a member of CMI or IC To co-ordinate Regional Board contact with educational establishments in the local area, specifically Further Education organisations and Private Training Providers. Support the Regional Board Members in the presentation of the benefits of membership to local learners. Develop relationships with Education Providers to support Regional Board activities.» FINANCE CHAMPION Oversee the budgeting and financial reporting processes in liaison with the Institute s finance team. Check financial records as provided by the Institute s Finance Department. Confirm quarterly and annual financial returns as determined by Institute s Finance Department. Present financial information to meetings of the Regional Board. Part of the team to assist with the preparation of the annual Regional Board operating plan providing cash flow and forecast information for the annual budget. Liaise with Institute s Finance Department as necessary.» MENTOR CHAMPION To promote and be the advocate of the CMI Mentoring Programme in the region (Educational Providers, Employers, SME s, etc.).
6 » APPRENTICESHIPS/EMPLOYER ENGAGEMENT CHAMPION To promote and be the advocate of the CMI apprenticeship offer and raise awareness of the current provision. To liaise with the Events Champion in generating ideas, activities and events to engage local employers and increase the visibility of the CMI apprenticeship offer. To engage with existing and future Higher Education partners and encourage them to provide CMI degree and higher degree apprenticeships. To serve as the key contact between the Board and employers in terms of networking and engagement activities.» STUDENT AMBASSADOR/VOLUNTEER CHAMPION Must be a member of CMI or IC Take a lead in terms of managing and co-ordinating the activities of the Student Ambassadors/volunteers in the region. Offering student ambassadors/volunteers support with the organisation of relevant events and activities to raise awareness and the profile of the CMI brand. Ensure that an appropriate succession plan is in place for the training of new/further Student Ambassadors/Volunteers. Support the development of a student/volunteer network enabling the sharing of good practice within the region. Help support the general marketing and visibility of the CMI brand in terms of key aims and increasing overall membership and engagement.» STUDENT AMBASSADOR The overall objective of the role is to engage students and raise the profile of the CMI and its aims in terms of higher visibility and increased student membership by: Organising relevant events to enable students to network learn and inform them of CMI benefits/ resources Being asked to undertake project work organised by the Board Being asked to be involved in other CMI activity as and when required Helping mentor the next generation of Student Ambassadors Forming a Student network, enabling them to share best practice and network with their peers Sharing best practice and experiences with other student ambassadors across the Regions via a virtual network and LinkedIn group
