Change management is proactive management of project scope during the execution phase by evaluating needs/requests/expectations of the project sponsor by comparing it against agreed upon baseline at kickoff When change management is done well, all stake holders are engaged in the change process and work collectively towards a common objective of making the project successful

5 Real Life Project Scenario There is substitution request from the client on an equipment you specified as a part of your construction deliverables. Is this a formal change order with schedule and/or budget impact? What if the equipment system you specified is obsolete and no longer available? The lead engineer made an assumption about what the client wanted. Even though the system you specified meets all functional specs, it is not one of the customer approved manufacturers. The installation contractor simply knows more about the application and has a better recommendation for the equipment system
