1 Qualification Level 3 Diploma in Retail Skills (Visual ) Starting in January 2018 Tailored to your workplace
2 If you have ever been stopped in your tracks by a spectacular window display of a department store, been distracted by a sale item while walking through a shop, then you have been sidetracked by visual merchandising! If you ever purchased an item as a result of you stopping and entering a shop, then you have surrendered to its supremacy! Fully funded subject to eligibility criteria. This qualification allows individuals to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in visual merchandising for retail. You will cover all areas of visual merchandising including window dressing, in store displays, dressing displays, positioning signage, lighting, making and managing props and managing budgets. It will also cover the role of a Visual Merchandiser, the history of displays and why we do them, how to measure success, floor layouts and take a glace at fixtures and fittings. This 18-month course will consist of several briefs ranging from smaller displays, window displays to a whole store takeover. You will design all displays, acquire approval from the company s directors, and manage staff to help install and measure the success of each display.
3 This qualification will cover the following units: Work effectively and support others in a retail organisation Make props and decorate fixtures and panels for visual merchandising displays Choose merchandise to feature in visual merchandising displays Manage the use of signage and graphics in visual merchandising displays Evaluate the effectiveness of visual merchandising displays Contribute to improving a retail organisation s visual merchandising policy Design visual merchandising display layouts. Progression after this qualification allows candidates to progress into a higher level of employment and/or to the following City & Guilds qualifications: Level 3 Certificate / Diploma in Retail Skills (Management) Level 3 Certificate / Diploma in Retail Skills (Sales Professional). A visual merchandiser can work within a company to solely work on their displays, however, a smaller shop might not require a full time employer. A freelance Visual Merchandiser might work for several smaller shops and go between.
