1 Induction Policy mentis tree CIC Company no: This Policy Statement is issued by Mentis Tree CIC, hereinafter called the Organisation: The Organisation believes that all new employees and volunteers be given timely induction, and that this policy and associated checklists define the Organisation s commitment to ensure that all new people are supported during the period of induction, to the benefit of themselves and the Organisation alike. It is the aim of the Organisation to ensure that induction is dealt with in an organised and consistent manner, to enable new personnel to be introduced into the Organisation s environment quickly, so that they can contribute effectively as soon as possible. The Organisation expects that the implementation of good induction practice will: Enable new employees to settle into the Organisation quickly and become productive and efficient members of staff within a short period of time. Ensure that new entrants are highly motivated and that this motivation is reinforced. Assist in reducing staff turnover, lateness, absenteeism and poor performance generally. Assist in developing a management style where the emphasis is on leadership. Ensure that people operate in a safe working environment. Will reduce costs associated with repeated recruitment, learning and lost production. The Organisation s Commitment 1. All new employees will be inducted on their first day and ongoing induction will continue for a period of three months. 2. New employee induction will be arranged by the line manager in consultation with the Managing Director. 3. New volunteer induction will be arranged by the line manager in consultation with the Managing Director. 4. Employee induction will follow the staff induction check list, copy attached. 5. Volunteer induction will follow the volunteer induction check list, copy attached. Approved by Sue Jay, Managing Director. Date. 1
