3 BEST PRACTICES IN TALENT MANAGEMENT STRATEGY Presenter: Martha T. Ramirez, SPHR Director, Western Region & Field Services Director for the North Central Region for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Do you have an effective strategy in place to meet your critical talent needs over the next five or ten years? If not, you are probably as concerned as the CEOs in many surveys who worry that they will not have the talent they need to compete in a recovering global economy. In this presentation, you will explore the main demographic and other drivers of the global competition for critical talent, four components of an effective talent management strategy, and best practices case studies of companies with successful programs. Martha T. Ramirez, SPHR is the Director, Western Region & Field Services Director for the North Central Region for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).where she has worked since Previously, she held the position of Regional Manager at SHRM. Prior to SHRM, Martha had 11 years of HR experience from the finance and manufacturing industries. Martha s primary responsibility is to help SHRM members, volunteer leaders, HR professionals and their organizations find rewarding ways to get engaged in our chapter structure, the profession and with SHRM. She is also responsible for assisting state councils and local chapters with their strategic planning and operations. Martha also leads the Staffing Management Panel at SHRM. Martha holds a Bachelor of Science degree from DePaul University in Chicago. She is a lifelong resident of the Chicago area and resides in the western suburbs with her family. She enjoys traveling, reading and meeting new people, all things she incorporates in her position with SHRM. Marketing Essentials for the HR Professional Presenter: Andy Marris Training Specialist Manager, Marketing & Communications Your organization s marketing strategy is paramount to its success. How can you use basic marketing practices to promote HR initiatives with current employees and to make your organization appealing to more applicants? How can your organization s marketing strategy help create your HR strategy? This course is designed to expose HR professionals to basic marketing practices, including branding, marketing channels, integrated marketing communications, advertising, and the four P s. Adding marketing acumen to an already strong HR experience can take an HR professional from good to great! Andy Marris has 15 years of management and leadership experience in the sports broadcasting, financial services, healthcare, and information technology (IT) industries. Andy draws on his knowledge and experiences to help participants sharpen their leadership skills and business acumen. As a graduate- and undergraduate-level business and marketing instructor for the past several years, Andy discovered he has a passion for facilitating adult learning through fun, interactive, real world education. Whether he is working with first-time supervisors, or seasoned leaders seeking continuous improvement, Andy is able to make the training experience memorable. In addition, Andy serves the MRA membership as a marketing and business intelligence professional. Andy holds a BA in Organizational Communications from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and an MBA with an emphasis in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix. He has taught courses in advanced marketing management, advertising, change management, business and leadership, and business technology to undergraduates and MBA candidates alike at Cardinal Stritch University s School of Business and Management, and Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). In addition, he is a member of the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), and a marketing committee member at the Betty Brinn Children s Museum.
