2 Contents of the WIOD Database (at Time-series of input- tables ( ) with supply broken down by country-of-origin: link of data on national production structures and bilateral trade data Satellite accounts (at identical level of industry detail): Socio-economic (labour and capital input by type: skill levels, ICT capital vs. non-ict capital) Environmental (energy, emissions to air, land, water and mineral resources) Country coverage: 27 EU countries and 13 other major countries 35 industries and 59 products All results based on publicly available data

6 Key Construction Steps (I) Starting point: National Accounts (annually available) Construction of country-specific correspondence tables for products and industries (for non-eu countries) Reconcile National SUTs with National Accounts totals (total consumption, investment, exports/imports) plus value added and gross by industry figures Estimate National SUTs for non-benchmark years, in line with National Accounts Construct NatSUTs both in basic prices and purchasers prices Estimation of valuation matrices needed (net taxes plus margins)

7 Key Construction Steps (II) Split between of products and imported products based on: Imports by product in the supply table Broad End-Use Categories for goods (modified, at very detailed level, 5000 goods) Split of imported by country-of-origin (plus Rest of the World ) based on import shares from UNCOMTRADE for goods (by end ) from WIOD s bilateral trade in services data assembled from UN, Eurostat and OECD data Estimation of international trade margins to arrive at imports at fob-prices
