5 Technology Survey of Virginia Planning Offices 273 responses from 99 different jurisdictions Only 27% of planning offices use social media to share planning information with the public 12% of respondents do not use technology Source: Akers, Dustin; Christopher Chop; Harvey Clark; Lauryn Douglas; Allison Lohrenz; William Long; Ashley Prout; Nick Scheuer and William Sutton. Technology in the Planning Process: Survey Results. Virginia Tech Urban Affairs and Planning Program, Blacksburg, Va.
6 Overall, our survey revealed a low level of technology in Virginia s planning offices. We found that although there is high GIS and Google Earth usage, other technologies such as Adobe Creative Suite, social media, blogs, and other visualization tools are underutilized. Low frequency usage could be due to a variety of reasons such as expense or various office policies that restrict usage. -- Technology in the Planning Process: Survey Results, 2010.
