Job Description Job Title Responsible to Location Business Development Director Managing Director Head office, but mobile throughout current and prospective sites Primary Job Purpose To ensure that Freedom Leisure remains one of the most successful community leisure operators in the UK by proactively identifying opportunities for further epansion in line with our ambitious Business Epansion Policy. To regularly review the policy to ensure that it drives the business forward in line with our overall business strategy and objectives To take responsibility for putting together winning bids and proposals for new business activity achieving business growth. To work closely with the Operations Director on the mobilisation of new contracts. To provide support to Area Managers and the Operations Director in Client liaison with local authorities and other partners. To be part of the Eecutive Management Team of Freedom Leisure contributing to the management of the whole business. Key Relationships Board Eecutive Team (EMT) Business Development Manager Area Managers Site Managers Leisure Operators Local Councils and other Clients Project Managers Consultants NGBs and other eternal bodies Staff Teams Main Duties To lead on new business development co-ordinating market scanning, bid writing, financial proposals, presentations and Client contact. To manage the work of the Business Development Manager. To manage all specialist bid inputs from individuals across the organisation providing relevant bid information clearly setting out epectations and timeframes. To undertake bid reviews and evaluations after all bidding processes regardless of outcome in order to improve subsequent performance. To work closely with the Operations Director on new contract mobilisation ensuring bid commitments and client epectations are understood in order to facilitate a smooth transfer into the business of new sites/contracts.
To attend regular meetings with our clients/partners for each contract supporting the Area Manager and Operations Director in feedback performance against agreed objectives. To work with the Operations Director on the implementation of allocated large scale capital projects within our facilities putting in place appropriate relationships with project managers, operational staff and client teams. Where more than one project eists at any one time, the Business Development Director may be required to act as EMT lead on such projects. To fully participate in the strategic development and direction of the organisation, and contributing to the bid and proposal processes of tendering. To identify new and innovative funding streams that could enhance the business either financially or by improving our social return on investment. To represent Freedom Leisure as a consultant on occasions ensuring client objectives are achieved. Eecutive Management To participate along with other colleagues in EMT in the management of the whole business. To participate fully in the eecutive team business development and strategic level discussions. Be a role model within the business demonstrating a commitment to effective and proactive management and to promote the values and culture of the organisation. To take a proactive approach to bringing ideas and draft proposals to the eecutive team and board for discussion and consideration. As an accomplished and self determined motivator, your management style will be derived from a marked orientation towards performance and results, ensuring high employee involvement and collective responsibility. Management To undertake performance reviews for the Business Development Manager on an annual basis ensuring feedback on performance is given at regular intervals throughout the year. Communicate effectively with a variety of staff teams on a timely basis ensuring robust systems eist so that staff feel informed. General To fully participate in the performance review process and personal development planning. Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and agreed with Managing Director The post is likely to require attendance at evening and weekend meetings and events. The postholder will be epected to attend whenever reasonably practicable. To achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales. To contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams in which he / she works.
