It will be updated and amended from time to time in accordance with the changing needs of the University and the requirements of the job. PURPOSE OF ROLE: To support the university s public relations and internal communications team, contributing to the achievement of corporate goals through the generation of press releases, media liason (and other PR related workstreams), internal comms content to ensure we better communicate our key messages to identified external & internal audiences. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Team Specific: To provide support to the PR & Internal Communications team To support the generation of planned / reactive content for PR & Internal Communications workstreams Work with a variety of internal / external stakeholders and assist the managements of the university s communications with external and internal stakeholders, including the media. Any other duties required which are appropriate to the grade of the post. Public Relation Write press releases, news stories, articles, case studies, features and other workstreams identified to support the University PR function Pitch press releases and feature ideas to local, national, regional, international & trade journalists Respond to incoming requests for information (internal / external audiences)
Co-ordinate interviews / meetings / requests for information with journalists and internal spokespeople Monitor media coverage and assist in generation of reports to demonstrate success Attend relevant events and provide on ground support from a PR & Comms perspective Brainstorm ideas for new PR campaigns / press releases Support the PR team in responding to crisis management situations Internal Communications Write / organise filming to support generation of internal comms content for a variety of channels (e.g. staff portal, email, social media), and support other workstreams identified to support the University Internal Comms function Use the portal, email, & identified social media channels to support communication with internal staff audience; leveraging audience feedback into future content generation Co-ordinate interviews / meetings / requests for information with internal stakeholders Support the creation of presentations for delivery by senior management Support the internal comms response to crisis management situations Monitor analytics and assist in generation of reports to demonstrate success Brainstorm ideas for new internal comms campaigns Generic: Must be willing to embrace the shared values and required behaviours of the Communications and Recruitment Directorate staff (Aspiration; Confidence; Creativity; Professionalism and Responsibility) To support in the delivery of all PR & Internal Communications workstreams as identified by line management To establish and maintain networks within the university, to aid the planning and distribution of PR & internal communications content Managing Self Maintain a professional approach at all times Manage work effectively and deliver to deadlines (internal / external) Work with other staff effectively to help maximise team outputs Ensure line manager updated regularly on progress against assigned tasks Core Requirements Role modelling the values of the University, ambition, creativity, determination, excellence and inclusivity Commitment to key strategic priorities of the Directorate and the University Willingness and ability to travel to work place locations within the UK Adhere to and promote the University s Equality and Diversity policies and information security
