Job Description Template Fundraising Ambassador Co-ordinator Job Title Fundraising Ambassador Job Evaluation Ref # Co-ordinator Directorate Income and Communications JD Last updated March 2017 Location Hours 33.75 Colchester Responsible to: Community Fundraising Partnerships Manager Accountable to: Head of Fundraising and Marketing Qualifications and experience: A levels or equivalent experience Further education qualification Computer Literacy (European Computer Driving License or equivalent experience) Experience of Fundraising and /or Marketing or relevant transferable skills Experience of working with community groups and organisations Key Working Relationships Fundraising team Retail and Lottery teams Marketing & Comms team Hospice Ambassadors Hospice Supporters Volunteer Services team Colleagues within the Hospice Local community groups and organisations including schools Local businesses General public Job Summary The main responsibilities of this post are: To manage the Hospice ambassador program: recruiting new ambassadors with different backgrounds within the community and local organisations to induct and train new ambassadors to ensure they understand the work of the hospice and any key messages to communicate regularly with our ambassadors and provide regular updates on hospice developments to co-ordinate any talks and research opportunities to reach more people in the North Essex community To support the Community Fundraising Partnerships Manager with meeting the Community Fundraising income target. To liaise with other members of the Fundraising team to ensure fundraising volunteer opportunities are maximised and co-ordinated.
Key responsibilities 1. Working with the Community Fundraising Partnerships Manager and Head of Fundraising and Marketing to significantly grow the Ambassador program, ensuring that all opportunities to recruit new ambassadors and deliver talks are maximised. 2. To manage the Ambassador program, ensuring that regular training and updates are given as required. 3. In liaison with the Fundraising and Marketing team, develop a suite of presentations, prompts for talks and stories that can be used for spreading the word about hospice care. 4. To work with the Fundraising Team and Volunteer Team to develop a group of volunteers to assist with other fundraising activities. 5. To co-ordinate other volunteering opportunities within the team so that income and PR opportunities are maximised and ensuring the volunteers are communicated with and thanked appropriately. 6. To support the team by making presentations to specific target groups promoting the Hospice and its funding and volunteer needs. 7. To support the Community Fundraising Partnerships Manager, providing cover where required and working on activities to ensure community fundraising income targets are met. 8. To be responsible for own administration and ensure that all relevant donor records are kept up to date on Raiser s Edge. 9. To be knowledgeable on all income generation initiatives so that a package of fundraising products can be promoted in a bespoke way. 10. To organise and plan own workload and timetable, in consultation with the Community Fundraising Partnerships Manager, to ensure all deadlines are met on time. 11. To be conversant with relevant legislation, charity commission guidance, and to have a good knowledge of the Data Protection Act, 1998. 12. To work closely with the Hospice Fundraising Team, to attend events and engagements where appropriate at evenings and weekends. 13. To help ensure volunteers are informed about developments at St Helena Hospice, and given regular positive feedback from the wider team on their value to the Hospice. 14. To attend regular meetings with the Fundraising Team to ensure good practice, underpinned by co-operative relationships and effective communication. 15. To liaise with professional bodies, agencies and other associations as required. General
Provide cover for colleagues as directed by the relevant team leader/ Manager / Director. To liaise with and assist all other Fundraising Staff, and Hospice Staff where appropriate to maximise Hospice profits and reputation. Co-operate with all staff in maintaining good relationships with outside agencies and the general public in order to uphold the Charity's image and win increased support for its work. The post holder must familiarise themselves with matters relating to health and safety management as they affect them personally and/or the Hospice, reporting any potential risks to life or property immediately in accordance with the Hospice s Health and Safety policy and procedures. They must use all equipment provided to undertake their role safely. Refrain from smoking in any area of the Hospice premises not designated a smoking area. Where you are a member of a professional body you are required to conform to the professional standards set by that body. You are required to ensure your registration is current and practice continuous professional development The philosophy of the Hospice is based on an interdisciplinary approach and employees and volunteers are required to participate in this concept.
