1 Job Description 1. Job Title: Direct Marketing Manager Reports to:director of Fundraising & Marketing Accountable to:director of Fundraising and Marketing Salary: Band 5 Hours: 37.5 per week Date: September 2014 Contract: Permanent 2. Job Summary The Direct Marketing Manager will be responsible for managing the IMO &LegacyFundraiser, the Lottery Fundraiser and the Database Fundraiser. The post holder will be responsible for producing a rolling 5 year budget with their line reports and introducing a donor recruitment and retention programme, a regular giving programme and developing the current lottery. The post holder will evaluate and improve current policies and procedures across their team and implement an organised and effective annual work plan and set KPIs. The post holder will work with the Communications Manager to ensurepr and marketing is planned for 12 months ahead to coincide with appeals and lottery superdraws. The post holder will be responsible for the development and performance management of their line reports.

Main Duties & Responsibilities Work with the Communications Manager and the Fundraising Manager to ensure all opportunities to develop relationships with supporters are maximised To introduce a donor recruitment program to grow cash donors To introduce a donor development plan to retain current supporters and recruit existing and new supporters to regular giving or lottery Produce campaign reports by segment and analyse long term profitability of direct marketing activities Liaise with external agencies to profile existing supporters and buy in cold data Co-ordinate all mailings for fundraising and individual giving to ensure all mailings are targeted and relevant Analyse the existing supporter base and identify geographic areas of potential growth for income generation generally Oversee the management of the lottery and ensure returns to the Gambling Commission are done on time and meet the 80/20 rule Liaise with counterparts at other hospices to share ideas. Produce and monitor performance of income and expenditure budget in line with the organisation s budgeting timetable. Implement and monitor line reports work plans and KPIs Ensure accurate computerised and other related records are maintained on all aspects of each donor contact to facilitate timely communications Network across the organisation in order to be equipped to accurately and persuasively articulate the current clinical service delivery and corporate development/management needs at a strategic and operational level.

3 Liaise with the Communications Manager to plan and implement marketing and PR plan for the next 12 months. Liaise with all fundraising to maintain a rolling 12 month mailing plan To provide support and share knowledge of fundraising best practice where appropriate To be aware of new trends in the marketplace with the aim of anticipating new fundraising opportunities or challenges To be aware of any changes in the law which could affect current policies and procedures Ensure excellent customer service is delivered to all supporters and relationships are developed to ensure retention Report to the Director of Fundraising & Marketing on progress at regular intervals. Undertake any other duties as requested by the Director of Fundraising and Marketing. 5. Personal Development Through the appraisal process, agree individual objectives and develop a personal development plan linked to team and individual objectives. Attend external events such as NAHF meetings and Institute of Fundraising training Demonstrate Continuing Professional Development, develop new skills as required. 6. Communications And Working Relationships Internal:All staff and volunteers; department managers, senior management team and trustees External: Handling appeal enquiries and requests from the general public, liaising with external suppliers, handling complaints Please note this is an illustrative list only. 4 PERSON SPECIFICATION Job Title:Direct Marketing Manager 1. Attainments/Qualification English and Maths at GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) Direct Marketing diploma for the Institute of Direct Marketing or equivalent experience Educated to degree standard or equivalent 2. Skills Excellent analytical and research skills Outstanding personal organisation skills Good financial management skills and ability to report on performance of direct marketing activities Ability to produce reports from Raisers Edge to give insight into RFM of current supporters Ability to co-ordinate complex data segmentation for appeals Ability to think outside the box and maximise opportunities Competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) Ability to draw up a budget Ability to work well within a team and be self-motivated Ability to manage multiple projects at one time Proactive, innovative and able to use own initiativeto improve processes Ability to use social media to connect with supporters and research Tact and persuasion 3. Knowledge/Experience

5 Significant proven success in delivering income growth from Appeals cash and Direct Debit Experience running various direct marketing activities including mail, telephone and face to face At least experience managing a team of 3 or more Knowledge of the law relating to all areas of fundraising Knowledge of project management Experience using Raisers Edge for inputting and reporting Experience managing a charity lottery Experience of working in a healthcare environment Experience working for a local charity Experience developing new fundraisers 4. Other factors Member of the Institute of Fundraising or Institute of Direct Marketing Personal integrity A thorough understanding of, and ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to interact confidently withstaff at all levels Ability to build rapport, trust and confidence with colleagues Good knowledge of fundraising best practice
