Marketing and Communications Coordinator REPORTS TO: Manager Marketing and Engagement (M&ME) DIRECT REPORTS: N/A OVERSEES: Supporting the FCAC Marketing and Engagement team to implement marketing and communications campaigns with a focus on collateral design and production. This includes in-house production of marketing material and managing external printers, designers and suppliers, along with as coordination of a range of marketing and communications activities. FTE: 0.8 (4 days) SALARY: $50,000 - $55,000 p.a (pro rata) Key Relationships INTERNAL: Director and CEO, Manager Marketing and Engagement, Head of Programming, General Manager, Cultural Facilities Team, FCAC Programming Team, Digital Content Producer, Marketing and Communications Interns EXTERNAL: Suppliers, Organisational Partners, Government and non-government stakeholders, arts, cultural and community sectors, external service providers, stakeholders and communities in Melbourne s west and representatives from relevant organisations, both formal and informal, within the community. Summary FCAC s Marketing and Communications Coordinator has the opportunity to: Contribute to the sustainability and legacy of Australia s leading community-engaged, contemporary arts centre where the focus is on producing and presenting work that is representative of political, social and cultural commentary in a contemporary Australian context whilst building audiences of the future Participate in the delivery of FCAC s vision, mission and activities within a new strategic planning context (2017 2020) Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of a consistent brand message in a local, national and international context. Focus on the effective communication of FCAC s purpose, artistic program and activities to ensure accessibility and participation of stakeholders. Work within a passionate, dedicated, respected and highly engaged team of people who work with communities and artists on a daily basis.

Marketing and Communications Coordinator Qualifications and Experience: You will be a member of the Marketing and Engagement Team, working closely the FCAC Programming Team, Cultural Facilities Team, artists and communities. A talented marketer with strong design skills, you will apply your strategic thinking and creative eye in a dynamic and exciting arts and community context. Use your impressive communications skills and impeccable attention to detail, to write and create accessible marketing material for a variety of audiences including community members, corporate and government partners. A skilled collaborator, your professionalism and administrative skills will support the successful implementation of marketing campaigns and other communications projects. You have experience in all areas of collateral production including in-house design, prepress and print production, as well as developing visual elements for online communications. You are comfortable working with a high degree of responsibility in a dynamic, fast-paced, generative and exciting environment. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will assume responsibility for the following: Marketing and Communications Coordination Supporting the Manager Marketing and Engagement to develop and deliver effective marketing and communications strategies for all organisational, event and workshop activities. Identify media opportunities (radio, TV, print media, etc) to promote and publicise Footscray Community Arts Centre and our activities. Coordinate the weekly FCAC What s On media alert and respond to media enquiries Coordinate and send monthly communications about events and activities to FCAC s community partners Work with our Development Coordinator to manage segmentation and data collection of community and audiences. Write, proof and edit copy for print and online marketing collateral, including coordinating production of the seasonal program Assist the Digital Content Producer with event photography as needed. Engage and brief event photographers. Coordinate distribution of marketing and publicity campaigns with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers (including printers, media and direct mail suppliers). Coordinate events and activities related to community and audience development.

Collateral Production and Coordination In liaison with the Manager Marketing and Engagement, develop and design marketing and program materials for both print and online distribution, including typesetting programs, flyers, posters, signage and organisational documents both in-house and through the engagement of external designers. Managing external design suppliers to ensure collateral is produced to a high standard, on time and on budget. Supporting the Digital Content Producer and Development Coordinator to create content for all FCAC EDMS including the monthly enews and event invites. Regular consultation with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure all FCAC collateral is relevant, appropriate and accessible. Selecting, retouching and preparing photos for print, media and website. Ensuring appropriate use of all FCAC branding elements, as well as meeting partner branding and acknowledgement requirements. Coordinating communication and marketing sign-off by relevant FCAC personnel, partners and artists. Organisational As a brand custodian manage the FCAC Style Guide and ensure the FCAC brand is applied effectively across all print and online collateral. Ensure accessibility of all FCAC marketing collateral and communications. In collaboration with the Manager Marketing and Engagement, General Manager, Cultural Facilities and Front of House Staff, ensure that FCAC is a welcoming and accessible space for artists, communities, audiences, program participants and visitors. Administrative Ensure accurate reporting of production schedules. Manage the FCAC image archives including ensuring photo credits are applied appropriately across all marketing material. Manage the digital and physical archiving of all marketing collateral including FCAC s image archive. Regularly report on activity, demographic and reach data and analyse to inform future audience development. Maintain the customer relationship management system and other administrative systems. This includes entering, updating and maintaining prospective data records, data analysis and reporting. Partnerships and Collaborations Maintain positive and constructive relationships with all stakeholders (both internal and external)

Undertake administrative support tasks as required that enable team members to effectively and efficiently communicate and maintain sound relationships with our community. KEY COMPETENCIES Qualifications and Background A tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing or equivalent is desirable. A background in the community sector and/or an arts background would be highly regarded. Specialist Skills and Knowledge Experience copywriting and editing for diverse audiences including a demonstrated understanding of inclusive and accessible language Experience managing external suppliers including designers, printers and photographers Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and InDesign Experience in creating and managing print and digital marketing collateral including all preparing files for print Understanding of audience development strategies to build effective communications between audiences, stakeholders and organisations Experience with Trybooking and Salesforce an advantage General Skills Exceptional organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and work efficiently to competing deadlines High level of written and verbal communication skills and exceptional attention to detail and experience editing and proofreading Creative approach to problem solving Ability to work independently and within a team to respond to changing priorities, solve problems and deliver outcomes across a range of program areas Knowledge of the arts and culture landscape within Melbourne Interpersonal Skills Proven capacity to liaise effectively within a team environment and network with the range of stakeholders and communities of interest Relates sensitively and with respect within a community environment Strong networking and relationship-building ability to create lasting relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders. Key Performance Indicators for the Probationary Period of 6 months: The following Key Performance Indicators have been developed to assist with the assessment of performance during probation. At the end of the 6 month probation, the Designer and Marketing Coordinator will have delivered and ensured the following:

1. Delivered the required collateral and marketing materials in a timely and organised manner, ensuring this has also been a smooth experience for staff and suppliers alike (Successful/ Unsuccessful) 2. Performed all administrative tasks including managing the FCAC image and marketing archives, both online and physical (Successful / Unsuccessful) 3. Acted as an effective brand custodian, maintaining the FCAC style guide and ensuring the FCAC brand is applied effectively across all collateral (Successful / Unsuccessful) 4. Supports the Manager Marketing and Engagement to implement marketing and communications campaigns for all organisations, event and workshop activities including communications support (Yes/No) 5. Supports the Digital Content Producer and Development Coordinator to produce and deliver all EDMs and event invitations (Yes/No) 6. Maintained strong, secure and sensitive relationships with stakeholders, marketing and programming partners (Yes/No) 7. Represented FCAC professionally, internally and externally in manner, presentation and in all communications (Yes/No) At the end of the 6 month probation the Marketing and Communications Coordinator will report to the Manager Marketing and Engagement on the achievements of these KPIs to discuss at the Probation Review. Should the outcome of the review be successful, the Manager - Marketing and Engagement and the Marketing and Communications Coordinator will renegotiate a new set of KPIs for the remainder of the term of employment. TERMS AND CONDITIONS Remuneration Scale: Employee Band S5 $50 000 - $55 000 per annum + superannuation This is a 0.8 FTE position based at 45 Moreland St, Footscray (centrally located 10 minutes from Melbourne s CBD). The incumbent will be appointed for a fixed-term of one (1) year dependent on funding. A six (6) month probation period applies. The Designer and Marketing Coordinator will enter into an employment contract, which sets out all terms and conditions of employment including remuneration, superannuation and leave loading. The successful candidate will undertake a police check and working with children check, at own expense and present this to FCAC upon signing of Employee Contract SELECTION CRITERIA Essential Exceptional written communication skills and attention to detail including copywriting, editing & proofing, with experience writing for a diverse audiences Proficient in graphic design and image editing skills including typesetting and image management

Experience managing all aspects of collateral production including external suppliers, particularly designers and printers Demonstrated project management skills developing and implementing timelines and managing competing priorities Desirable An understanding of community-engaged arts and audience engagement is highly desirable. A tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing or equivalent is desirable. A background in the community sector and/or an arts background would be highly regarded. Emerging Cultural Leaders: supporting and developing Australia s next generation of cultural leaders, this award winning program engages with artists and community practitioners from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to build capacity in sector knowledge, community-engaged arts practice and working with communities FCAC maintains a broad artists and companies in-residence program, supporting a diverse range of emerging and established artists and arts organisations through access to facilities, expertise and producing support. FCAC also provides a venue hire service and acts as landlord for a number of commercial and non-commercial tenants including Adult Learning Australia, Cohealth Arts Generator, Brown Cab Productions, TILDE and Happy River Cafe. FCAC is funded via general purpose and specific project grants from a range of Federal, State, and Local Government agencies. The centre also receives funding for specific initiatives through a range of philanthropic and corporate supporters. FCAC s annual turnover is approximately $2.4 million.

FCAC has a team of 19 - including full time and part time - in addition to approximately 35 casual tutors, artists, reception and venue staff, an Indigenous Advisory Group, and 2 Elders in Residence, Arweet Carolyn Briggs and Uncle Larry Walsh.
