What can we grow in greenhouse? Here are the plants that I recommend grow best inside a greenhouse: 1. Ginseng Ginseng is a great crop to grow around your homestead. Not only for its medicinal properties, but also because you could use it as a cash crop to help earn an income from your homestead and/or greenhouse. 2. Mushrooms
Mushrooms should be grown very carefully as some of them are quite hazardous if you don t know what you re doing. But if you can get them going in your greenhouse, they are another crop that many people will purchase from you. 3. Bamboo Bamboo is a great crop to grow. It doesn t take very long to begin flourishing and it can be used for many things. 4. Herbs
5. Leafy Greens
Leafy greens should be a constant in our diets. They have many vitamins and nutrients that our bodies need in order to function properly. So if you have a greenhouse, you should really consider trying to grow these as long as you possibly can. That way you will be certain to be eating enough of them. 6. Microgreens Microgreens are another really simple green to raise. They don t require a lot of space or time. Plus, they are also an added health boost that can be quickly tossed on or into a meal. 7. Spinach We grow spinach in our greenhouse pretty much year-round. Not only do we grow
spinach for ourselves, but also for our animals. It is a nice green treat during the colder months when our animals have a hard time finding anything green. 8. Cucumbers I love growing cucumbers. They are a really simple vegetable to raise, and you don t have to grow a ton of them to get quite the harvest. So if you decide to grow cucumbers inside your greenhouse, be sure to keep in mind that they do bush out and take over if you aren t careful. 9. Peppers I ve always had excellent luck growing peppers inside our greenhouse. The reason is that peppers absolutely love heat. So inside a greenhouse, they are certain to get more heat than they would outside. Which in turn gives me a much larger harvest. 10. Tomatoes
Tomatoes are another vegetable I ve always had great luck with growing in a greenhouse. It is another plant that absolutely loves the heat. So just be sure to water them more because of the excess heat they ll find in a greenhouse. Also be sure not to plant them close to the peppers as you don t want them to be cross pollinated. 11. Swiss Chard
12. Squash Squash is another great plant to grow in your greenhouse. It is pretty easy to grow and also puts off quite the harvest from only a few plants. Just be careful as they like to take over where they grow too. 13. Lemons 14. Oranges Oranges are another fruit tree that grows great inside a greenhouse. That way you don t have to move them around when the weather dips to lower temperatures. With any luck, you could have fresh orange juice most of the year. 15. Grapes
Grapes are one you may not have considered raising inside your greenhouse. You ll need to raise them with an arbor so they can be trained where to grow. But with a little love and a big enough greenhouse, you could have a few grape vines that produce quite well for you if given the right environment to thrive in. 16. Strawberries
Strawberries are quite possibly one of my favorite fruits. I love how easy they are to grow and how much they produce if raised right. You can even plant them in containers so they can be moved around your greenhouse. 17. Peaches Many people raise their fruit trees inside greenhouses. Peach trees are no exceptions. The reason is because the trees will produce longer in the year since the temperatures can be controlled in many greenhouses. So then you can enjoy fresh fruit for the majority of the year. That sounds great to me! 18. Cilantro This one could potentially fall under herbs, but around my house, it deserves a category all of its own. My husband absolutely loves cilantro. So if you love cilantro too, then you should consider raising it in your greenhouse. 19. Raspberries A lot of people have berry patches, but most don t consider raising berries in their greenhouse. But raspberries are a berry that can grow quite well in a greenhouse under the right conditions. 20. Chilies Chilies are great for growing in greenhouses because they love the warmer temperatures. When it comes to almost any kind of pepper, the hotter the temperatures are the better they are going to grow (in most cases.) 21. Okra You may not know it, but okra is another heat-loving plant. I would ve never thought of okra when I thought of plants that like heat. Naturally, because of this, they would
grow well in a greenhouse too. 22. Sweet Potatoes What about sweet potatoes? Would you think of a sweet potato as a plant that loves the heat? Again, I wouldn t have made the connection either. But they do so they grow well in greenhouses as well. 23. French Beans If you grow French beans inside a greenhouse it is usually to get an earlier harvest. Greenhouses are great at extending grow seasons. So you can plant some items earlier to harvest earlier, or plant some fall crops later so you can harvest later. 24. Melons
Melons are another crop that grows well in a greenhouse. Just plant with caution because they are runners and will take over wherever they are planted as well. A trellis is usually recommended when growing melons. 25. Cabbage Cabbage is usually a cool weather crop. You can grow them in the warmer seasons, but you have to battle a lot of bugs that you don t have to worry about in cooler temperatures. But if you plant cabbage in a greenhouse it is usually to extend its growing season. 26. Peas Peas are another crop that can be planted in a greenhouse. Most people usually plant them in a field because it takes so many of them to get a decent harvest. But if you have a large enough greenhouse, then you might be able to grow them there and still get a nice sized harvest. 27. Brussel Sprouts Brussel sprouts can be planted in a greenhouse to extend its growing season as well. So if you d like to plant a second planting in the fall, you could do this inside the greenhouse, and they d have time to mature. 28. Onions We always plant our onions in the greenhouse. The reason is they are protected from our chickens. If you plant them in your greenhouse, then they ll have the right growing temperature and can be left undisturbed until mature and ready for harvest.
29. Leeks Leeks is another plant you can grow in a greenhouse to extend its growing season as well. Again, if you d like to plant a second planting, then you just plant that in a greenhouse so they ll have time to mature. 30. Sweet Corn Sweet corn is what impressed me about a greenhouse. The show I was watching where they had a greenhouse, they were actually growing corn inside of it. I loved that idea and still do. 31. Broccoli We grew broccoli in our greenhouse our first season growing. It turned out really well and naturally, got me hooked on a greenhouse that much more. I ve usually had better luck growing broccoli inside the greenhouse instead of in a basic garden bed. 32. Pumpkins Pumpkins might require a larger greenhouse. But if you have space, then you could definitely plant them in a greenhouse and give them a little extra time to grow. 33. Baby Carrots Baby carrots are a good option for a greenhouse unless you are going to plant them in a container which is left in the greenhouse. I say that because baby carrots don t require as much depth to grow to maturity. If you want full grown carrots, then containers are probably your better option. 34. Geraniums Geraniums are gorgeous flowers. I ve learned the hard way that starting your own flowers takes some time. Growing them in a greenhouse gives them that extra time that they so often need. 35. Impatiens I m a huge fan of Impatiens. I love how pretty they are and how colorful they can be too. So it is great that you can grow them in your greenhouse and have a splash of color when you want it. 36. Petunias I always use petunias to decorate our house in the spring and summer. Growing them myself saves a lot of money. So it is great that they are a good option for a greenhouse as well. 37. Salvia
Salvia are gorgeous flowers that remind me of flowers that would grow in a designer flower garden or a meadow. It s wonderful that you could have that same feeling in your greenhouse since they can grow there too. 38. Caladiums Caladiums are also known as Elephant Ear. The reason is because they kind of look like one. They make many ornamental arrangements stand out and can really bring some color to your yard. So it is great that you can grow them and get them started in your greenhouse. What a great addition to your flower arrangements. 39. Ferns I love ferns. I think they are simple and beautiful. So I was elated when I realized I could grow them in my greenhouse. Hopefully, you ll have luck growing big beautiful ferns in your greenhouse too. 40. Poinsettias I love Poinsettias, though I haven t been able to have one for years now because we have cats. They can actually be poisonous to cats so we ve always played it on the safe side by not growing them. But if you don t have a feline family, then you will be happy to know that Poinsettias are another flower that you can grow in your greenhouse. 41. Pansies
Pansies are always my spring pick-me-up. About the time of year that I m itching to get out of the house from a long winter, I always put pansies out. The reason is they are cold hearty and add color to my yard before anything else can. 42. Chrysanthemums If you aren t familiar with chrysanthemums, then maybe you ve heard them just called mums'. I love mums too! I have them everywhere during the fall so they can decorate and add color to my home. 43. Coleus Coleus is another plant that many people use to add color to their yard without a lot of fuss. It comes in brilliant colors and can be grown right in your own greenhouse. 44. Gazanias
Gazania is a flower that looks a lot like a daisy. So if you d like to grow beautiful flowers with lots of pretty colors, then consider these because they can be grown in your greenhouse too. 45. Garlic Our final item that can be grown in your greenhouse is garlic. We grow our garlic in our greenhouse every year because that way it has a place to grow undisturbed. You probably already guessed that my chickens like to snack on it too. Well, now you have 45 different items that you can grow in your greenhouse. But first you should have a greenhouse for planting. The most popular greenhouse is plastic greenhouse.
