12 NEST MEWC (now MoICC) invited bids from qualified institutions to become the consultant to its programs, UPM was finally selected and recognised as its CoE in WSN called NEST, NEST is to assist MEWC to achieve their objectives as set above, 12

13 NEST shall provide advise to the government on the promotion of this technology in the country, NEST developed the WSN Roadmap, Knowledge Repository, Training Modules, and identified a few application areas for Proof of Concept precision agriculture, slope monitoring, logistics and transport. 13

19 Envision PA as an end to end solution, from farm to knowledge base, Knowledge Base through WSN is gathered to provide informed decision for good farm management, Transforming traditional farmers to more advanced agronomists. 19

Tomatoes, Chillies fertilizer, soil conditions, humidity monitoring and control, Oil Palm nitride level (fertilizer), Paddy land leveling, water leveling, fertilizer, Initial works to identify the sites and partners have been done, and the next stage will start soon. 20

21 NEST helps to propose WSN in agriculture as 1 potential source of economic growth in the future, A technology that would spur new economic activities for the country in the future, A local working group under MYREN should be reactivated to revive joint works in this area, and extent this to collaborate with international partners. 21

22 WSN is a promising technology for a wide array of applications, WSN in agriculture shows great potential to move the industry up the value chain, increase yield and value add products, A complete eco system is required in order to sustain the use of this technology market demand, government support and right policy, technology supply, and R&D support. 22
