3 Wholesale Price Index in Iran Mordad 1383 (1376 = 100) The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) went up 0.8 percent in Mordad Showing the index point of 236.0, the WPI was 12.5 percent higher than the similar month in During the first five months of the current Iranian year, the Wholesale Price Index rose 12.2 percent compared to the similar period in On the average, the Wholesale Price Index, increased 10.7 percent during the last twelve months leading to Mordad 1383 compared with the similar preceding period. In Mordad, the food group index reduced 0.3 percent. The beverages and tobacco group index remained unchanged. The crude materials, inedible, except fuels group index and mineral fuels and related materials group index increased 0.2 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively. The chemical and petrochemical products group index declined 0.2 percent. The manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials group index went up 3.3 percent which was attributed to the increase in the prices of plastic products, wooden products, cement pipe, bricks, asphalt, iron and steel, copper wire and exported copper and metal office supplies. -1-

4 The machinery and transport equipment group index and the miscellaneous group index rose 0.3 percent and 0.1 percent, respectively. In the special groups the farm, livestock and fishing products group index decreased 0.7 percent and the building materials group index went up 3.4 percent. -2-
