Enabling the Food Supply Chain to be directed towards Global High End Markets Star Farm established its head office in China in 2007, Star Farm China has trained over 7000 enterprise employees, provided consultation to more than 700 agro/food companies and more than 2000 high quality products with Star Farm logo and traceability barcodes are available on all over hypermarkets in China. Star Farm Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. started operations in Pakistan on 1 st April, 2011, the name and business strength that has been earned by our organization today, is due to the professionally equipped staff, who have been trained from China. The Company has trained over 150 government employees (100 Agri / 50 Livestock) and 260 private employees, provided consultation to more than 55 agro/food Suppliers, more than 21 high quality product categories under Star Farm Traceability System, after getting training from Star Farm Pakistan, 14 Farm Bases have achieved Global GAP Certifications and 08 companies have achieved IFS Certifications.
2 International Agriculture & Food Standards; Agriculture is developed to be standardized, in this regard World has a renown standard named Global GAP (Good Agricultural Practices). This is the standard ensuring food safety, best crop management and productivity enhancement techniques at the farm level. The safety of food is ensured at the processing level by the IFS (International Featured Standard. This is a unique standard in the world which covers the management system along with product safety through the whole supply chain, like involved processing brokerage and logistics. BRC (British Retail Consortium) is the parallel standard to the IFS. Both include HACCP. (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point). All above standards are GFSI (Global Food Safety initiative) recognized. Productivity Enhancement; Star Farm is also recognized for the productivity enhancement of agri commodities, like crops, fruits, vegetables, livestock, diary and the integrated. A successful value added project has been working with Bayer Crop Sciences, reducing the post-harvest losses up to 45%. Traceability of Food Supply Chain; Food traceability is the ability to trace and follow a food, feed, food-producing animal or substance intended to be, or expected to be incorporated into a food or feed, through all stages of production, processing and distribution till the end consumer. Star Farm has developed its own traceability system (accessible through barcode via mobile, website kiosk machines etc.) showing all the above mentioned details. Market linkages to the Global Market; Considering that the most important link of the Food Supply Chain is the market, Star Farm strives for Farmers/Suppliers to reach the global high end markets using the traditional and modern marketing techniques and tools.

5 Star Farm Pakistan Projects IGW 2012 (International Green Week), Berlin Project ( ): Government of Punjab took an initiative of participating in International Green Week (IGW), Berlin 2012, for first time with traceable products. Star Farm provided the overall consultation services including; training of international standards (Global GAP, IFS), Traceability and branding, Star Farm supported in overall branding for IGW 2012, the products in IGW were of the main interest in Pakistan stall in IGW which was a consequence of extraordinary branding, starting from the Brand Traceable Pakistan including Stall design, Packaging (All Packaging was with Traceable Pakistan, Transparency and Sustainability (Star Farm s TS) logo, and Barcode), and Marketing Techniques. Star Farm also used its global market links with the help of Metro Germany to conduct a prolific marketing activity, by forming 3 teams which visited European markets, stores, warehouses and etc., during these surveys, samples of Pakistan s basmati rice were also compared with Metro C&C own brands, where Pakistan s basmati rice overall scored higher than the rice used by own brand Metro C&C, Moreover, this whole activity also resulted in on-spot sales of the Pakistani products. After witnessing Pakistan s agriculture potential in IGW 2012, Mr. Frans Muller, C.E.O, Metro, offered an office in Metro Head Quarters in Düsseldorf, Germany to any association representing Pakistan s Traceable Food Products, he said that Pakistan must form an association which can operate from Metro Head Office, so after IGW, Traceable Pakistan Farmers & Suppliers Association was formed to supply certified and traceable products from Pakistan. Supply Chain Improvement Program of Government of Punjab ( ): Star Farm Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. is nominated as the capacity building firm for the Supply Chain Improvement Program, in which Star Farm Pakistan is providing the overall consultation services to maximize the compliance level of Agriculture food supply chain with the International standards, in addition to this Star Farm Pakistan will also provide support for Packaging aesthetics/material and Traceability. Metro Services Assessment/Training Program ( Onwards): Star Farm is engaged for MAS assessment/training which leads to safety, high quality and traceability of food products, Research and Development of Advanced Technology, and International Advanced Management Concepts enabling the Metro C&C suppliers to produce high quality food products.
6 Agribusiness Support Fund - USAID Exports Certifications Project (2012): Star Farm is providing the consultancy to the selected candidates of ASF Capacity Building Project; these farmers are trained for the maximization of the compliance with Global GAP Standards. Translation of Global GAP Standards in Urdu: Being the official member of Global GAP Star Farm has successfully completed the translation of Global GAP standards in Urdu language for better interpretation and adoptability of the Farmers. Agha Khan Rural Support Program AKRSP ( Onwards): AKRSP is jointly engaged with Star Farm Pakistan to provide training to the farmers in northern areas of Pakistan, Gilgit, to reach global high end markets, they have identified the products they are interested to enhance capacity of, which are; Apple, Apricot, and Nuts. This project will be of the time span of 6 years. Star Farm has completed training of farm cluster growing apples; the training was conducted in October 2012, as a result for the first time, high quality apples from Star Farm trained farmers in that area are supplying apples to Metro CCPK and are registered suppliers of Metro CCPK. The training will continue in March 2013, as from November to end of February the extreme weather conditions for training and agriculture practices are not favorable in Gilgit, Baltistan.
7 TS Brand, symbol of Transparency and Sustainability Traceability Logo of products from Pakistan IGW (International Green Week) is one of the largest exhibitions of food, held since 1926, at the same time, IGW is the point of origin for the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) with more than 60 departmental ministers. Pakistan participated in IGW for the first time with a vision TRACEABLE PAKISTAN, with 25 traceable product categories, with total 70 fully traceable and certified products, About 420,000 Visitors came to IGW in This was a result of mutual contributions and restless efforts by Government of Punjab and Star Farm Pakistan. Miss Gudrun Kopp State Minister of Economic Affairs, Berlin, also specially visited Pakistan s Pavilion in IGW 2012, and witnessed the potential of Agri Products of Pakistan which are not only certified with most recognized standards, but also fully traceable till the consumer level.
