27 Advanced Monitoring of Tree Crops for Optimized Management (3D-Mosaic) 3D-Mosaic is targeting the automation of irrigation in orchards. Input requirements in an orchard show spatial and temporal pattern due to the variability of climate, soil and plant growth. On a tree-scale, irrigation needs will be evaluated considering the spatial distribution of the soil properties and of the apparent phenotypes using automated sensors and GIS. 28 Ambient Awareness for Autonomous Agricultural Vehicles (QUAD-AV) Autonomous vehicles are being increasingly adopted in agriculture to improve productivity and efficiency. For a vehicle to operate safely, environment perception and interpretation capabilities are fundamental requirements. 29 Geospatial ICT infrastructure for agricultural machines and FMIS in planning and operation of precision farming (GeoWebAgri) The overall aim of the GeoWebAgri-project is to analyze and develop an ICT infrastructure for handling geospatial data and knowledge both in agricultural machines and farm management information systems (FMIS) and promote the introduction of this technology in European software and automation products for agriculture. 32 Optimizing performance and welfare of pigs using High Frequent RFID and synergistic control on individual level (PIGWISE) An ICT based tool will be developed that can be used to monitor performance and welfare of pigs at the individual level in order to detect problems at an early stage and hence preventing economical losses. Computer-aided analysis of individual animals data enables to develop an Early Warning System for potential drops in performance or potential health. University of Göttingen

33 Preparing for the EU Soil Framework Directive by optimal use of Information and Communication Technology across Europe (Predictor) Soil quality is threatened due to traffic with modern agricultural machinery. The PredICTor project has two main deliverables, i) an online decision support tool for evaluating an intended field traffic situation, and ii) an online tool for creating Europeanwide maps of the wheel load carrying capacity for combinations of tyres, soils and water contents. 35 Application of Information Technologies in Precision Apiculture (ITApic) This project proposes implementation of precision agriculture technologies and methods in the beekeeping. Precision agriculture approach is adapted for beekeeping based on the various measurements of individual bee colonies all year around thus detecting different states of colonies and apiaries enabling rapid reaction by the beekeeper in case of necessity. 36 FarmFUSE: Fusion of multi-source and multisensor information on soil and crop for optimised crop production system FarmFUSE aims to fuse a set of data on soil and crop together with auxiliary data to delineate management zones for precision crop management. This functionality is integrated into a FMIS, which enables end users to collect and collate data on crop and soil from a wide range of sources in addition to recommendations on best crop management practices. 37 Dairy ICT:to improve dairy cow welfare. We are developing new uses for accelerometer collars, expanding the utility of milk metabolomics and building novel biomarker technologies. Outputs from these novel technologies will be integrated into ICT-based "smart" husbandry support systems for use by dairy farmers. Contact: Chris Knight

38 i-leed Advanced cattle feeding on pasture through innovative pasture management The main goal is to optimise the feeding of grazing cattle and improve the methods of the pasture management. The new i-leed software, will interact with a global Herd Management Software (HMS), provide parameters for controlling of the new robot for pasture maintenance and provide support by the calculations of the optimal feeding strategy for cattle. 39 SILF, SMART INTEGRATED LIVESTOCK FARMING SILF will design an ICT platform collecting and combining decision support information and focusing on sensor technologies for the detection of lameness and the energy consumption of related to in-door climate and ventilation. 40 ICT GRAZING TOOLS: Use of ICT tools to capture grass data and optimize grazing management Profitability on grass-based systems is driven by degree of grass utilization. Frequent measurement of grass parameters is required. This project will allow precise allocation of grass using GPS technology, a smart phone and a grassland management Decision Support Tool. 41 USER-PA: USability of Environmentally sound and Reliable techniques in Precision Agriculture USER proposes a conceptual framework and concrete applications for the farmer based on an innovative technical architecture, that demonstrates reliable Precision Agriculture solution. USER integrates canopy and fruit sensors with mobile vehicles and wireless sensor networks for providing spatial data for high value crops (vineyards and apple orchards). Contact: Victor Alchanatis
