7 - Networking supports social organization and promoting long term ES; - ES as a joint action among smallholders strengthen community organization and higher efficiency of environmental impacts - Water is an essential component for community engagement Challenges/Future Outlook - High costs of monitoring turns verification unfeasable. Using participatory approaches can generate either consistent data and community ownership - Establishment of short, medium and long term indicators of results Incentives contribute to incorporation of techology by smallholders. Sustainability of ES should be a positive consequence of this process -Increased productivity with efficient technologies and income generation are conditions to make ES selfsustained - Incentive allows TA for environmental awareness raising, also encouraging adoption of sustainable practices (ES) - Participatory planning, diagnosis and monitoring tools facilitates dialogue between social demands and public/ private offers (interests) - Private sector is poorly engaged on ES schemes limited to legal obligations and CSR; vision focused on shortterm targets, while SRD requires medium and long-term results -Development of a collaborative market for environmental services AND environmental friendly agricultural products; -Improvement of national rural credit to include environment services in their schemes; - Implementation of joint collective ES among smallholders strengthen community organization and raise efficiency of environmental impacts
