Community mobilisation > Increase awareness about the benefits of pollination by indigenous bees resulting in increased income for the farmer, > Enrolment for the programme. 2. Provide initial beekeeping training > Farmers start keeping bee boxes 3. Provide hand holding support > Farmers have 2 active beeboxes at end of 15 months (could be an outcome) B. Who is targeted? 350 Tribal/Small farmers C. Where is it conducted? 16 villages in 4 districts in MP D. When is it conducted? July Aug (community mobilisation) Sept-Oct (initial 2 day training) Nov-Aug (Hand holding support)

Summary of intermediate outcomes: (Examples: increased teacher efforts, health worker attendance, knowledge of service providers, more business start-ups, change in farm practices etc.) Increased awareness about bees & their importance for agriculture Increased yields of short term crops like vegetables and better market value for these crops Additional livelihood opportunity generated B. Summary of key impacts: (Examples: improved pupil learning, youth skills, child and maternal health, employment prospects, reduced poverty, etc.) Increase in incomes by at lest 30% due to increased yields and income stream from honey, beeswax and sale of colonies Replacement of unsustainable honey hunting practises by sustainable beekeeping Market access for Honey and Beeswax. Reduction in the use of Chemical Pesticides leading to good practices in Agriculture.

Method of data collection (e.g. electronic health worker interviews, admin data, etc.): Baseline and Endline Study. Technology intervention (What we would like), Currently, Through Paper Surveys. C. Frequency of data collection: Twice over a period of 2 years at a new area. C. Who will collect the data: Research Organizations, Volunteers, Field Staff, Programme Staff.
9 5. Impact evaluation design A. Research question: - Impact of bee keeping on the lives of small farmers and -Impact of beekeeping on agriculture yields? Describe the intervention in the (add treatment arms, if applicable): Treatment: Trained Bee Keepers from the same district Control: Untrained Farmers from the same district. A. Describe the sample size (e.g. 30 schools, 15 pupils each) Treatment: 200 trained bee keepers from 6 villages in the same district Control: 200 untrained farmers from 6 villages in the same district. B. Describe the program assignment rule: (e.g. random selection of schools) - The selection of Villages under the programme will be based on the following factors : -Number of Trained farmers in the area - Proximity of the villages for logistical management - A matching design.
10 6. Communication of results Key Message 1 (e.g. communicate program impacts on child health): A. What is the nature of the key message? -To generate AWARENESS about INDIGENOUS bee keeping as an additional livelihood activity for the tribals in Madhya Pradesh. - How the beekeeping activity has led to an increase in incomes of the households having trained bee keepers. A. Who is the target audience? - Partner Organizations - Government and donor agencies - CSR Units of MNCs - Banks and MfIs - Research institutes and agricultural universities - Staff internally. A.
