Registered in 1993 ASK has engaged with corporates since 15 years to shape their CSR strategies, facilitate program implementation and assess the impact of these initiatives on the community. 8 askindia.org NGO TRAINING FOR CSR PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT We can work with NGOs to review/develop their CSR partnership strategy and then work with relevant corporates and their CSR teams to identify and develop specific partnerships. Engagement with NGOs would entail building capacities for their partnership with CSRs in the following manner : Being well versed with the provisions of the Companies Act, 2013 Help NGOs to carry out self assessment for their funding resources Help them identify their core strengths to create shared value for sustainability and other CSR vision of the corporate Create an enabling environment for strategic CSR and social innovation Along with NGOs, capacity building is required for CSR teams at companies too. ASK trains CSR Teams in fostering a synergetic relationship with the NGO partners.

9 askindia.org PRE FUNDING APPRAISALS ASK has worked with several development partners in appraising and managing award of grants to CSOs through a process of identification and recognition of innovative practices employed. ASK also offers accreditation facilities to NGOs who can then be linked to CSR initiatives, guaranteeing transparency, credibility and accountability towards initiatives planned. ASK has conducted appraisals of not for profit organisations across the states of Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for leading funding agencies such as Cordaid Netherlands, Geneva Global and Stichting Kinderpostzegels Nederland to identify partners with whom program interventions could be implemented. Norms of accountability, governance and fiduciary assessment were applied while conducting the appraisals

10 askindia.org PROGRAM MONITORING ASK conducts monitoring of programs initiated by CSRs by adopting a multi-disciplinary approach where social, economic and institutional elements are combined with the technical process of monitoring in order to provide CSRs with a holistic view of the interventions Services offered are: Program monitoring Grant monitoring & audit ASK undertook an organisational assessment and evaluation of the CSR initiative called SUNDESH. The evaluation looked into the organisational structure, scale, staffing, position within the community and the society. The evaluation of the program interventions assessed the effectiveness and impact of the activities undertaken and identified areas for improvement in line with the company s CSR vision.

11 REPORTING ON PERFORMANCE askindia.org While CSRs would be carrying out social innovations through their initiatives, it is equally important that they be reported in an effective manner - Highlighting the impact brought about, Highlighting best practices and approaches Draw learnings to understand the underlying factors why an impact was achieved How sustainability is being instituted by the Companies and the NGO partners We offer holistic assessments to evaluate the impact of CSR activity on business objectives (increased visibility, brand recognition etc.), on NGO partners and on community/beneficiaries. ASK conducted an impact assessment of Havells India s flagship CSR initiative - the Mid Day Meal Program, which it implements in over 700 schools in Alwar (Rajasthan). Through the assessment the company was able to assess the change in nutritional levels of school going children, attendance and retention in schools. The Mid Day Meal Program has helped achieve the Central and State Government s commitment towards welfare of children, and ASK assisted in measuring this impact

12 askindia.org PROCESS DOCUMENTATION ASK undertakes comprehensive documentation of an organization s and program's specific processes, history and milestones, case studies, approaches and best practices. CSR s can highlight learnings and good practices adopted by partner organizations and portray them as best practices in the sector, for other CSRs or CSOs to adopt. As a part of the process documentation, bespoke reports on sector specific knowledge and practices can also be provided. ASK has conducted process documentation for leading funding agencies such as Oxfam India (and their affiliates in Hong Kong & Canada) and Educate Girls. Emerging from the impact assessment conducted for their initiatives, process documentation of the interventions and success stories were recorded. A similar documentation was also developed for C&A Foundation while designing their project interventions in India.
