4 OHIO FARM INCOME Cash receipts during 2010, from Ohio s livestock, livestock products, and crops totaled $7.88 billion, 10.8 percent above last year s $7.12 billion. Cash receipts from all crops in 2010 were up 5.6 percent from 2009, and cash receipts from livestock were up 22.1 percent. The 2010 value of cash receipts for crops was $5.15 billion. Based on preliminary estimates, this year s total is up by $271. The percentage of total farm marketing attributable to crops in 2010 was 65.3 percent, 3.3 percentage points below the corresponding figure from the revised 2009 data. The 2010 cash receipts for livestock and livestock products totaled $2.73 billion. This was the 2 nd highest in the past 10 years, and was 22.1 percent higher than last year (2009). The percentage of total farm marketings earned by livestock and livestock products were 34.7 percent, 3.3 percentage points above the corresponding figure from the revised 2009 data. Government payments totaled $373.2 million, 29.8 percent above last year s $287.5 million. This represents 4.5 percent of total cash receipts including government payments. Ohio agriculture contributed a net value added of $3.19 billion to the National economy in 2010, up from $3.11 billion in The final agricultural sector output, at $8.81 billion, was up 0.1 percent from Purchased inputs totaled $4.55 billion, unchanged from last year. Capital consumption was $1.15 billion, up 1.9 percent from 2009, and payments to stakeholders, at $1.03 billion, were down by 2.7 percent. The top five commodities in terms of cash receipts earned were soybeans with $2.270 billion and 28.8 percent of total receipts; corn with $1.909 billion and 24.2 percent of total receipts; wholesale milk with $932.7 million and 11.8 percent of total receipts; poultry and eggs with $719.0 million and 9.1 percent of total receipts; and hogs with $580.7 million and 7.4 percent of total cash receipts. The commodities ranked sixth through tenth were cattle and calves, greenhouse/nursery, wheat, vegetables, and hay. The top ten commodities accounted for 97.4 percent of all Ohio cash receipts. The following ten counties ranked first through tenth, respectively, based on total cash receipts: Mercer, Darke, Wayne, Hardin, Putnam, Licking, Stark, Wood, Auglaize, and Holmes. Mercer County ranked first in total receipts, hogs & pigs, and poultry & other livestock. Darke County ranked first in cash receipts for corn and soybeans. Wayne County was first for milk, cattle & calves, and oats & hay. Wood County was first for wheat, and Lake County ranked number one for other crops. This year s report includes publication of revised data by county for 2009 in addition to the 2010 preliminary data. The publication of the revised 2009 data by county permits a better comparison of the two years after the revisions have been made to reflect more complete data.
