6 Inoculant-Specific Data: 2016 Innovation Plots 2016 Inoculant Plot ROI (2016 Yield, Price Based on Current Price Sheet- March 23, 2018) Basic Inoculant (N-Take): Product Cost: $1.90, Gross Return ($9.00 soybeans): $16.47, Net Return: $14.57, ROI: 8.67:1 Premium Inoculant (Preside CL): Product Cost: $3.50, Gross Return ($9.00 soybeans): $28.44, Net Return: $24.94, ROI: 8.13:1
7 Key Observations 2017: CruiserMaxx Vibrance or Acceleron, complete fungicide and insecticide seed treatment packages, improved plant stand by over 28,000 and 23,000 plants, respectively vs untreated seed. This is slightly smaller than the population gain in Intego Suite, another complete seed treatment package, also provided excellent stand improvement. Final yield showed that a full seed treatment package plus inoculant provided a 5.1 bu yield gain compared to untreated checks. This is a very significant ROI to the seed treatment programs. Yield gains in 2017 were strikingly similar to gains from 2016 (5.10 in 2017 vs 5.02 in 2016), even with the significantly drier year. Significantly more uniform plant emergence, growth and yield with complete fungicide plus insecticide seed treatment packages like Cruise Maxx Vibrance, Acceleron or Intego Suite, compared to basic fungicide packages like ApronMaxx. This has been a consistent trend for several years. Insecticides and advanced fungicides in seed treatment programs showed solid improvement in plant stands. A comparison of ApronMaxx to CruiserMaxx Vibrance shows the value of the premium seed treatment packages. Increased stands far offset the increased cost of premium programs. HEADS UP Plant Protectant treatment again provided yield scores. Heads Up is designed to help the plant resist white mold later in the season. Emergence was slightly negative for the treatment, but yield gains were moderate, even in the absence of white mold at the plot. ILeVO showed a marginally lower plant stand, but excellent mid-season plant health. Root development with ILeVO look excellent, even with the typical burn to the cotyledons. Key Observations Four- Year Data: Complete Fungicide and Insecticide treatments, like CruiserMaxx Vibrance, provide a highly statistically significant improvement in plant stands compared to basic fungicides (+12,425 plants/acre) and especially compared to untreated seed (+23,550 plants/acre). Final yield showed that a full seed treatment package plus inoculant provided a highly statistically significant gain in yield of 5.6 bu/acre vs untreated and a 4.4 bu/acre gain vs a basic fungicide- only package. ROI to the full seed treatment program is extremely positive, providing a gross return of $50.40/acre and a net return of $37.16/acre based on $9.00 selling price for soybeans and a full program cost of $13.24/unit for treatment. Plot Information: Plot located at the Agtegra Bath location in the Innovation Showcase Plots. Variety: AG1431 or AG11X8 planted at 140,000 plants per acre in 30 rows. Plot Size: 20 x 430 ft. single replicate demo plot.
