1 E. D. ANGUS 17th Annual Bull Sale Sunday March 19, 2017 at the Ranch Ashby, NE

2 E. D. ANGUS March 2017 E. D. ANGUS Dear Cattlemen, Welcome to our 17th Annual bull sale, March 19th, here at Ashby at 2 p.m. (MDT), for our live auction. We're offering a set of bulls that should fit every buyers needs, calving ease to power growth. The Black Iron calves again topped all three progeny groups last fall (bulls, steers and heifers) for weaning weight. His first daughters in our herd have finished calving in their first season and they are turning out to be excellent mothers. This year, for the very first time, we are offering replacement females for sale. We have selected five registered heifers and five commercial heifers for this year's auction. Including the heifer from our most productive cow. The progeny out of the BC Matrix daughter, E D Erica 910 (Reg # ) have always been at the top of every calf crop, for weaning, yearling and now production. The top selling bull in our 2016 sale was out of a daughter of E D Erica 910, while "910" had the second high selling son in We hope you will join our excitement in the daughter of "910", Lot 640, in this year's sale. The commercial females have been through GeneMax Advantage DNA testing process. It gives an idea of how well the females meet our breeding program goals and offers mating suggestions to Angus bulls who have a hd50k DNA test on file. That takes some of the guesswork out breeding those females. We know there are many places to select your cattle genetics and we appreciate that you have chosen to check out our offering this year. Our cattle must work for a living just like yours and we manage them in the same way most commercial herds are managed here in the Sandhills. We don't creep feed the calves prior to weaning and our heavy weight steers weighed in at 710 lbs. this year, the heaviest steers we've ever produced. The lighter weight steers were 25 lbs heavier than previous groups. We'd like to thank all of our customers past and present for our success over the years, for your patronage has made our progress possible. As always, you're welcome to stop by any time and look at the bulls here at home. Allow a little extra time and we get you a look at the females we have in the sale. The sale starts promptly at 2 pm. We're excited to see you March 19th, here in Ashby. Be sure to watch our website for updates as final EPD's, Ultrasound data, Breeding Soundness Exam results, and sale lot photos are posted. The Hebberts' The Hebberts Your welcome to view the bulls anytime before the sale! 1

E D Angus will pay 1/2 the cost (5% of the purchase price, the remaining 5% will be added to the buyers invoice) if the buyer chooses the Loss of Use/Mortality coverage over the Breeding Season Guarantee. The policy will be in effect for one year from the date of purchase. Loss of Use /Mortality Coverage: The value of the bull considered to be the purchase price as listed on the Date of Sale, considered to be the Agreed Value on the policy. The only exceptions are if, during the policy term, you attempt to sell the bull at auction but it does not sell, have it appraised at a lower value than the purchase price or castrate the bull. Full Mortality: 100% of the value of the bull(s) in the event of death or humane destruction as a result of a life-threatening injury. All claims must be immediately reported to the Company. All mortality claims made to the Company require a post mortem examination by a Veterinarian. Accident, Sickness & Disease (ASD) Infertility (formerly Loss of Use) Claims settled at 80% of the value of the bull, less salvage value, in the event of permanent impotency, infertility or being incapable of serving females as a result of an accident, illness, or disease sustained during the policy. Coverage: The coverage is available on the Date of Sale for those who choose to insure their bull(s). The policy will insure the bull from the Date of Sale for a period of One Year. All claims must be immediately reported to the Company. All mortality claims made to the Company require a post mortem examination by a Veterinarian. Under the ASD Infertility extension of coverage, the animal s inability to naturally service cows must be diagnosed by a Veterinarian. A Loss as defined by the policy shall occur if after the date of diagnosis and first report, the bull cannot breed due to accident, illness or disease. The Company may require a second examination to affirm infertility. (Fertility tests can provide negative readings due to weather, change in feed, etc.) Failure of a Breeding Soundness Exam is not in and of itself necessarily indicative of an accident, illness or disease. This is an abbreviated summation of the actual policy terms and conditions. Please read the entire policy for full coverage details. (See Breeding Season guarantee on page 3). 2

4 E. D. ANGUS Clint, Suzy, Ed & Joe Hebbert Home 308/ Clint Cell (308) i50k Genomic Zoetis Testing The bulls with this icon in their pedigree have EPD's that have been genomically enhanced (GE-EPDs). Genomic results are a way to enhance predictability of current selection tools, to achieve higher accuracy (increased predictability and decreased risk) on EPDs for younger animals. This means that in addition to the pedigree, performance and progeny information that are used in the calculation and reporting of Angus EPDs, genomic test results have also been incorporated into the EPD. These GE-EPDs on unproven (non-parent) or young animals have the same amount of accuracy as if they had recorded 8-20 calves, depending on the trait. Angus Breed average EPD & Performance comparison with E D Angus 2016 Bull Sale Offering. We've worked hard to keep our herd's EPD and performance in check, to balance with our environment. This should allow you to make our bulls work well in your herds, to bring you extra dollars in the fall without breaking your feed budget. E D Angus bull s weaning weights, yearling weights, $W & $B were significantly higher than breed average. Act BW 205 wt CED EPD BW EPD WW EPD YW EPD Milk EPD SC $W $B E D Angus Average: Angus Breed Average: BREEDING SEASON GUARANTEE All bulls selling for $4,000 or more will be covered 50% by E.D. Angus, if they are injured during their first breeding season. Breeding season is defined as the 90-day period following the first turnout of the bulls. Fifty % of the value of the injured bull, minus any salvage value, will be given as credit in a future sale or toward a replacement bull if one is available. All injured bulls must be diagnosed by a veterinarian. Please notify us as soon as possible should injury occur and prior to animal being sold for salvage. A copy of the sales receipt must be received by E D Angus to receive proper credit. All claims must be made by September 1, Example 1: A $8,000 bull is injured and will not heal. A credit of $4,000 minus any salvage value will be given the buyer. Example 2: A $4,000 bull is injured and will not heal. A credit of $2,000 minus any salvage value will be given the buyer. Example 3: A $3,900 bull is injured and will not heal. No credit is given. Buyer retains all salvage value. This is not a mortality policy. Nor does it cover mismanagement. Should you desire additional coverage, mortality coverage can be arranged through Payne West. We urge you to buy mortality insurance on all bulls sold here at E D Angus. 3
