1 Phospho-Specific Antibodies for Stem Cell Signaling. from Cell Signaling Technology Monitor the major signaling pathways in pluripotent and adult stem cells using phospho-specific antibodies from Cell Signaling Technology. 2 Embryonic and adult stem cells share many important signaling networks that define their resistance to apoptosis and their potential for proliferation and differentiation. As stem cells progress from totipotent to terminally differentiated cells, there are corresponding changes to their signal transduction pathways that regulate all aspects of cell biology. Major signaling mechanisms implicated in stem cell maintenance and differentiation include the Wnt/β-Catenin, Akt, Stat, TGF/BMP and Notch signaling pathways. Recent results suggest that some cancers may contain small populations of quiescent cancer stem cells that may give rise to drug resistance and recurrence of the disease following therapy. These results have important implications for the development and use of targeted cancer therapeutics.
