2 RigRider Competence by Smart Coaching It is an honour to introduce the RigRider system, which has been developed in close cooperation between our launching customer, Dalma Energy, Yokogawa and Well Engineering Partners. RigRider will enable major improvements for the safety, consistency, integrity and efficiency of drilling operations. It will help and coach rig crews to increase their competence and guide them to do their work efficiently and safely, whilst delivering a high quality product to their client. 3 Bookshelves full of Quality Management System information, procedures and work instructions alone cannot prevent human errors and non-adherence to procedures. This leads to operational inefficiencies, compromised safety and ultimately major disasters. Procedures should always be followed in detail to ensure high quality wells are drilled safely under full well control. We can t expect the rig crew to know all the details and keep up to date with changing procedures and new regulations unless it is at the fingertips of the frontline workers. This is what RigRider is about. Creating a direct link between frontline workers and procedures.

It is the perfect system to optimize procedures and to establish best practices in the whole rig fleet. Safety alerts and lessons learnt can be incorporated in the system on a corporate level and updated procedures will immediately reach everyone who needs them for flawless execution of his work. Using state-ofthe-art technology, RigRider ensures and demonstrates that drilling operations are at all time in full control and executed by fully competent, well informed, alert and accountable personnel. Coaching and control system This user friendly coaching and control system leads to a paperless drilling organization with essential information understood by all personnel. It brings vital knowledge to rig workers at the moment they need it. RigRider is built around the philosophy that competence is a combination of general professional knowledge, specific knowledge and experience generated by training on the job and job repetition. The heart of RigRider is the competence dashboard of rig personnel consisting of a pie chart showing active competence, missing competence elements for the regular job position and developing competences for alternative job positions or the next step up the career ladder. This assures that only employees with certain designation and the correct level of competence have authorization to execute the different work flows. The system informs targeted users of new learning points instantaneously with messages via smartphone, tablet or pc. After studying the information the employee acknowledges that the learning point has been read and understood, after which it is added to his competence portfolio. Planned procedures and manuals can be made available to personnel at any place and any time in a simple easy to read form using modern day devices. CoRider supports the RigRider system. This is the central database that contains all drilling and maintenance procedures, manages communication, staff competence and authorization, and reports process status. CoRider can be linked to existing systems such as human resources, maintenance, permit to work and competence applications. Safety doesn t happen by accident In safety critical workflows in the drilling process rig workers are guided via ruggedized interactive touchscreen stations that replace paper check lists. This results in minimal human error and promotes safety and efficiency. Procedural changes as a result of incidents can be immediately implemented and made available at each rig site. All computers in the RigRider environment are highly protected against unauthorized system access and virus contamination. Onscreen personnel on board list RigRider manages the entry of personnel to the drilling rig with a rig entry station at the guard house that identifies each person with 100% certainty due to fingerprint recognition. Employees are registered by scanning and storing the fingerprints of multiple fingers. This can be done at the office or at the rig site. Fingerprints are linked to personal data such as position, authorizations and competencies. All personnel is provided with a personal wristband to check in. Upon registration the personnel on board list is automatically updated. It shows all people on board with their name, photo and job title. If the user is not an employee then the company name is shown instead. The list is displayed on a large screen outside the gate guard container so that anyone on the rig easily can see the employees and guests that are on the rig. 7 CoRider logs individual work experience and makes it available for competence assessments Team coaching and toolbox talks using large interactive smart boards RigRider TM interactive stations RigRider interactive touchscreen stations are installed at strategic places on the rig. These all-in-one touchscreen pc s recognize and check the competence status of the specific person reporting for work, provide essential up-to-date information when he does the work and record the workflow steps. The interactive stations communicate wirelessly to the server that manages the local data streams and synchronizes with the corporate server at the Head Office. From these stations employees can select tasks for which they have the authorization to execute (when an employee is registered as not competent for a specific task he will not be able to select that task on the screen). The workflow is presented on the screen in an easy to read format and has to be followed step by step. Safer and more efficient operations When a task has been selected, the employee automatically receives all relevant information for a particular operation. He also gets a list of required tools and preparations, so he can prepare for the job. This can be done hours in advance. Safety critical actions and precautions have to be confirmed by the employee and will be logged by the system. Throughout the execution of the task, the employee will be guided, and after the job has been completed he has to confirm that post execution checks have been done, that the job has been concluded and that it is safe to proceed with the next operation. RigRider facilitates handovers between shifts, accommodates check lists and allows the digital generation of all kinds of reports, including standard IADC reports. All critical information, such as task, executor, time, et cetera, is logged and stored in CoRider, and can be reviewed at any time. RigRider ensures that competent personnel will follow the correct procedures resulting in safer and more efficient operations. A revolution in the world of drilling!
