2 Summary: SESAR inputs foreseen during 2013 SESAR Deployment scheme 1. Approval of the governance scheme 2. Development of guidance material -> Call for Deployment Manager early Decision on SJU extension beyond Approval of EC budget SJU projects 1. Mission Requirements Document (MRD) upgrade by P > final MRD delivered in March Definition of V&V activities for eocvm V2 and V3 for satcom by P > used to define the Iris Validation Infrastructure 3. Consolidation of NEXUS draft updates of ICAO documents + i4d trials (and progress in defining Full 4D) + analyses of VDL2 breaking point

3 Summary: Iris activities during 2013 ANTARES 1. Final Standard specifications 2. Development of the emulators i.e. the communication protocols will have been implemented and their performance verified 3. Breadboarding of user terminals and design of space+ground segments at the level required for the PDR Technical support studies Continuation of on-going activities with EASA (ATM Satcom Safety Board), Airbus, NLR, Frequentis THAUMAS (NB: now fully re-oriented towards the Precursor service) Implementation of the modified waveform on a hardware testbed (proof-ofconcept of modulator/demodulator and channel) + Simulator (from Astrium) Development of interoperability & verification testbeds is postponed after CMIN 2014

4 Summary: Iris Precursor activities during 2013 Completion of preparatory work in the THAUMAS study Definition of the workplan for the Precursor service 1. Amendments to Inmarsat s SwiftBroadband and to user terminals 2. Implementation of demonstrations and flight trials (cf. i4d trials) 3. Preparation of the operational service Procurement approach: UNITED KINGDOM 82.4% IRELAND 2.6% NORWAY 13.3% Activities to be managed by Inmarsat as Prime PORTUGAL 1.7% Sub-contractors to be selected in Ireland, Norway, Portugal and UK
