7 The case study SOWU SOWU Enterprise is an upcoming safe software company It s working on safe software for IT-applications and mobile devices It s located in 5 countries around the globe which all have their own processes Business Service Orchestration is needed to develop the company further Detailed information about the company at What the students have to do for SOWU Help business unit managers to reengineer processes in their location Collaborate to find a way to combine their processes to one global process Use simulations to identify and mend inefficient processes Document all their work in one report May 10, Horus software GmbH 7

9 Task 1: Method and Tool Training Before students start modeling the case study, they get an introduction to Horus Business Modeler and the Horus method Process models are based on petri nets, which have a well defined semantic Introduction in semantic and logic components e.g. how to model and- & or-components detailed description of modeling Guided practice time to keep in touch with features of Horus Business Modeler Smart Modus Setting properties May 10, Horus software GmbH 9

11 Task 2: Start of the case study CEO invites all 5 locations to a video conference and presents the issues of the company Students watch interviews of business unit mangers and help them with documenting the business processes Simulation of a knowledge documentation Students create models for their specific location using results from interviews May 10, Horus software GmbH 11

12 Task 2: The case study The students modeling the procedure of their local department with the Horus Business Modeler All locations and departments have initial aid models given to them which have to be completed by the students (see screenshot) Business unit managers help moderating the case study if support is needed May 10, Horus software GmbH 12
