13 Implementing a solution The Do s and Don'ts Do: Involve key personnel early (IT, finance, regulator) Ensure requirements gathering is extensive Perform visits to see how others have done it/are using it Pay careful attention to the best option for the historical/backlog scanning Avail of a competitive market! Don t: Try and accomplish all objectives at once, manage the change in stages Assume partners will automatically accept electronic copies Be complacent with regard to the expertise required in scanning the records

14 Implementing a process The Do s and Don'ts Do: Map all processes in detail, start with existing processes Utilise as much automation as possible with your MRO IT provider (if an airline) Ensure the right tools are in place (facilities, equipment) Ensure the right people are chosen Do involve as many line stations and heavy maintenance partners as possible (airline)/lessees (lessor) Don t: Assume records or technical staff will migrate to scanning records Assume all input can be 100% automated Allow records to be physically handled post scanning (where possible)
