4 04 About us Established in 1959, Silicone Engineering was one of the first companies dedicated to the processing of silicone rubber, supplying businesses with the highest quality silicone products. Bestobell Seals buys Silicone Engineering to be part of the Bestobell Group. Meggitt buys Bestobell seals and thus in return Silicone Engineering becomes part of a large PLC Group. Built our own 55,000 sq.ft. premises in Blackburn, England, UK. Calendering Our vast expertise in calendering silicone sheeting, coupled with the latest processing equipment ensures Silicone Engineering s sheeting performs at its best. Calendered sheeting lines are equipped with automated laser gauges for the tightest dimensional controls, high impingement nozzles that are used to evenly distribute the heat over the entire surface through the oven, enhancing quality, performance and repeatability. Extrusion To ensure quality we design tools for extruded profile products. Our line uses a continuous method that enables better dimension consistency. We also have a manufacturing cell dedicated to producing next generation dairy tubing using specifically dairy tubing lines. Mill Room Silicone Engineering s inhouse silicone compounding facility is equipped with some of the largest state of the art processing systems in Europe. It currently processes in excess of 2,000 tonnes of silicone rubber each year whilst maintaining full-quality control and material integrity at every stage of the process. Laboratory Silicone Engineering has one of the best-equipped and resourced laboratories in the industry. The laboratory s key equipment includes a rheometer for checking the rheological properties of silicone compounds and curing characteristics. Also a tensometer, that is used to test silicone properties to destruction like tensile strength, elongation to break, tear strength and compression stress strain.

In 2005 we re-branded the business. Due to growth we set up sales offices in France and North America with a dedicated sales team specialising in the silicone rubber market. This implies that our material will not cause contaminations and is food safe. The Scheme is funded by all the UK Water Suppliers to provide an advisory service for Water Regulations. 11 Technical Performance 11 Thermal Resistance Silicone rubber is one of the few polymers that has the ability to perform in extreme temperatures from -60 C to 230 C. Our research has proven that silicone rubber outperforms other elastomers in the general service life, compression set, and hardness. 17 New Product Development 17 Metal Detectable is a silicone rubber that can be detected during the manufacturing phase in food and pharmaceutical industries. If eroding particles from a silicone seal were to enter the process line, they can be identified by in-line metal detection systems preventing downtime and large quantities of waste. Thermally Conductive Silicone is a closed cell, thermally conductive silicone sponge. The sponge offers thermal conductivity which dissipates heat away from the source. By allowing heat to pass through the sponge, it allows systems to run at a higher rate without the worry of overheating. provides an answer for cooling problems within application. k FDA Sponge Food Grade FDA approved silicone sponge is the ideal material for the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industry. It has been tested to and comply with the requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation 21CFR for rubber articles in repeated contact with food, and EC1935/2004 on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
