Strip and remove all surface organic, topsoil and unsuitable material from under all building and paving areas as required. 3. Isolate the floor slab from the clay substrata by placing a minimum depth specified in geotechnical report under the floor slab. Fill shall be compacted at optimum moisture content to ninety-five (95) percent of their maximum dry density as determined by the Standard Proctor Compaction Test (STM D698-91). 4. ll concrete used on project shall produce a minimum compressive strength of 3000 psi at 28 days when tested in accordance with STM C Concrete mixing, delivery, placement, finishing, and testing to be in accordance with CI Concrete to be ready-mix provided from a designated mix certified to meet strength requirements by an independent laboratory. Water is not to be added to concrete if mixture will exceed water/cement ratio. Concrete mix to have a maximum water/cement ratio of uilding slab on grade shall be underlain with a minimum of 4 inches of compacted sand fill. Prior to placing sand, the floor sub grade shall be properly compacted, proof-rolled, free of standing water and mud. Concrete shall be placed over 6 mil polyethylene with vinyl taped joints. 8. ll concrete surfaces, sloped or level, to be struck to a correct line by use of screeds. Screeds to be wood or metal and sufficiently rigid to produce grade lines required. uilding interior floors to receive steel trowel finish. 9. Saw cutting shall be to a depth of 25 % of the slab thickness. Sawing shall take place within 1 hour after initial concrete setup and will be accomplished using a wet "green cut" blade. 10. Concrete to be cured using a water-base resin. Curing compound to be applied and reapplied as required per the manufacturer s recommendations. Curing shall start as soon as possible and continue for 7 uninterrupted days. No traffic on the slab is allowed during the curing period. Unless otherwise noted, reinforcing steel shall be spliced as follows: 12.1 minimum lap of 36 bar diameters is required at all splices 12.2 Splices shall be located so that no more than 50% of the reinforcing is spliced at the same location. 13. ll reinforcing to be deformed high strength bars conforming to STM -615, Grade 60. Heating or flame-cutting of reinforcing shall not be permitted. No. 3 bars may conform to STM 615, Grade Clear cover for concrete protection of reinforcing shall be as follows: 14.1 Concrete placed directly against the ground (footings & grade beams): 3-inches 14.2 Concrete exposed to earth or weather after form removal: 2 inches for #5 bars and larger. 21. Should any of the detailed instruction shown on the plan conflict with the general structural notes, the specification or with each other, the strictest provision shall govern. 22. The general contractor shall be responsible to verify all dimensions on the plan and for coordinating all dimensions and elevations shown on the structural drawings with those on the architectural and mechanical drawings. If discrepancies in dimensions ccure, it shall be the responsibility of the contractor to bring the discrepancy to the attention of the architect and engineer before proceeding with the work. 23. ll workmanship and materials shall conform to "THE 1997 UNIFORM UILDING CODE(UC)",local ordinances and reference standards of STM, CI, ND ISC. 24. ll contractors and subcontractors are to examine all drawings and notify the project engineer of any discrepancy EFORE proceeding with the work. 25.
