5 meet your instructors David W. Johnston, Ph.D., P.E. is Professor and Associate Head of the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina State University. Following eight years in industry, Dr. Johnston joined the NC State University faculty in 1977 where he teaches and conducts research in construction engineering and management and structural engineering. He has taught over 50 industry short courses and seminars to engineers, contractors, inspectors, and architects. His activities have also included investigation of many construction and inser vice failures of structures and building materials. Dr. Johnston is a Fellow of ASCE and ACI and chairs the ACI Committee on Formwork and the ASCE Committee on Construction Engineering Education. Everette Knight, P.E. is the Director of Stormwater Services for McKim & Creed, P.A., a 500-person, award-winning engineering, surveying and planning firm headquartered on NC State University s Centennial Campus in Raleigh. He attended NC State where he received a B.S. and a M.S. in civil engineering. His post-graduate studies concentrated on stormwater management and geotechnical engineering. Mr. Knight has more that 25 years of experience in stormwater management, including 10 years consulting and teaching with the late Dr. Rooney Malcom, PE, professor emeritus at NC State University. Mr. Knight s expertise is specifically directed toward stormwater modeling, detailed design of stormwater infrastructure and best management practices. He has performed a variety of drainage analysis, stormwater management studies, and detailed designs for many North Carolina municipalities and local governments. Roberto Nuñez, P.E., M.B.A. is a Lecturer of civil engineering and a Senior Construction Extension Specialist with the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina State University. He is a structural and construction engineer with more than 20 years of international experience in civil infrastructure in the private and public sectors. He is the director of business development for NC State University s Constructed Facilities Laboratory, working to link NC State University research and testing resources with private and public organizations in need of product development, compliance, and certification. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in NC, SC, MI, and Ecuador, South America.
