2 ILEY PPROH ailey manufactures a complete range of products and systems, both standard and purpose made, for cladding and eaves detailing. 4 SFE ND REYLLE PRODUTS Recycling 30% of the UK s regulated waste results from construction. Some of this is generated at the fabrication stage, some on site during the building process and a good proportion during demolition. The UK government is keen to reduce waste throughout industry in general and to reduce or abolish the use of toxic or environmentally damaging materials and potentially hazardous waste. ecause aluminium is both % recyclable and non-toxic, the metal has a valuable part to play in improving the environmental performance of the construction industry. does it use demineralised water. So run off water from aluminium roofs and cladding is non-toxic and will not harm animal or plant life. This product can be used in refurbishment projects to match original specifications, or on new buildings where a very traditional style gutter is required. The Durham gutter, replicates the cast iron pattern including the spigot and socket joint detail. The gutter is supplied as standard with a long life polyester powder coating available in over 200 standard colours. It is installed by direct fixing through prepunched holes in the back of the gutter, or in fascia or rafter brackets. They provide the hydraulic advantages of a box gutter but the profiled face gives some architectural interest, enabling the designer to make the gutter a feature of the building. The gutters have high flow capacity allowing the number of downpipes to be reduced, with consequent savings in drainage costs. s the gutters are direct fixed to a fascia board, no brackets are visible and the external joint strap requires no seen fixings, resulting in a smooth gutter line. 15 I/Sf (52.5) lh4 May 2009 Stirling Gutter Range DT SHEET Description The ailey Stirling gutter range comprises five sizes of aluminium box gutter. ox gutters have the highest hydraulic capacity of any gutter type, the largest in the series giving a huge flow of over 17 litres per second. This allows the drainage engineer to reduce the number of downpipe drops with a consequent saving in drainage costs and also may enable the architect to keep an elevation clear of downpipes if required. The external joint strap system allows for expansion and contraction over the full climatic range of the U.K. without requiring separate expansion joints and also eliminates the unsightly nuts and bolt often associated with joints on this type of gutter. The entire range is available direct fix, with only the largest size utlizing integral support straps, which are not visible from below. 19 ailey atlantic gutter Performance Polyolefine is an extremely tough and durable material so ailey tlantic is highly resistant to damage during and after installation and to weathering in use. The material is strong and hot air welding results in joins stronger than the material itself. It is thermally stable, retaining flexibility across a range from -40 to 130 with excellent puncture resilience. ppearance Light grey 1mm thick tlantic membrane bonded to 0.6mm to 1.5mm thick galvanised seals to the substrate. Safety ailey tlantic contains no chlorides, fluorides or plasticisers, resulting in a completely environmentally neutral and chemically inert product. The installation of tlantic requires no gas bottles, flames or boilers and is safe and clean, reducing risk and improving hazard assessment and thus reducing insurance premiums for installers. Sustainability One of the development objectives for ailey Monsoon tlantic Gutter was to produce a material free from adverse effects on the environment. This has been approached in several ways. Firstly the production of ailey tlantic Gutters has none of the potentially harmful environmental factors that result during the manufacture of PV membranes. ailey tlantic contains no chlorides or HFs. Secondly it is energy efficient during installation. Heat guns are set at 500 to 0 and are used only as required. There are no carcinogenic fumes as is the case with other materials. Thirdly all production waste is immediately recycled and most of the installation waste and packaging can be returned to the factory for recycling. Economics The economic arguments for using ailey tlantic Gutter are very strong. ecause of its very rapid installation, contractor s on-site time is much reduced. Technical composition The ailey tlantic Gutter liner is manufactured from % polyolefine. The result is a membrane which is long lasting, environmentally sound, quicker and safer to install than older gutter systems. It also surpasses the performance of all membranes used previously, being particularly tough mechanically and hence resistant to accidental damage during and after installation. 20 gutter sizes Gutter sizing depends on the anticipated maximum rate of rainfall flow for the length of gutter under consideration. Different gutter profiles will have different individual capacities. ailey is able to carry out calculations for flow rates and gutter sizes. gutter should be slightly wider than it is deep. Within this general rule deeper, narrower gutters perform better hydraulically than shallower, wider gutters. The maximum depth of gutter is determined by its length, the location and number of outlets. ailey tlantic Gutters can be supplied in almost any width and profile. tlantic liner tlantic installation tlantic membrane is factory laminated to the metal substrate, however to ensure flow performance joints require onsite welding. tlantic welding Every lap is sealed with hot air; it is not necessary to clean or use solvents before welding. Welding is carried out using a hand held gun, with the temperature set between 500 and 0 depending on the ambient temperature. cover flashing of tlantic 301 membrane is welded between joints in the gutter. over flashing is minimum 200mm wide, the flashing is heat tacked to the sole of the gutter, approximately 40mm from the edge. The remaining 40mm is welded, starting at the corners, by continuously moving the gun and roller together to obtain a small bead. This indicates that the weld has been carried out correctly.
