Depending on the absorbency of the substrate, approx ml/m² per coat on a smooth substrate, substantially more on textured surfaces. We recommend determining the exact coverage by means of a sample area. Full or partial over-coating can have negative effects on the drying and the coating film and should thus be avoided. 3 Special notes Notes for use in the outdoors: VOC content Disposal Keep out of reach of children. Rinse thoroughly with water in case of contact with the eyes. Rinse with warm water and soap in case of contact with the skin. When using in a spraying process, do not breathe in the spray mist and use breathing apparatus during spraying work. Do not allow the paint to enter drainage systems, waterways or soil. For more information, see EC safety datasheet. EC safety datasheet available on request. We recommend adding the Diessner FA-concentrate (Diessner FA-Konzentrat) for surfaces outdoors that often get wet or face the risk of algae or fungal growth. The Diessner FA-concentrate (Diessner FA-Konzentrat) is an algaecide/fungicide coat protector and can slow down algae and fungal growth. In this case, use the product only for outdoors and not in the spraying process. Please pay attention to the technical datasheet of Diessner FA-concentrate (Diessner FA-Konzentrat). Dispose of any liquid material residue at an authorised collection point that handles old paint/varnish. Any dried out material residue can be disposed of as hardened paint or as domestic waste. Handling guidelines Coating structure Even out absorbent substrate depending on the finish with Diessner Hydro Primer (Diessner Hydrogrund) or in case of wooden substrates outdoors, with DiescoLack Wood Protection Primer (DiescoLack Holzschutzgrund). Sand, dedust and de-grease smooth and shiny surfaces and pre-coat with Diessner Aqua Insulating Primer and Adhesion Promoter (Diessner Aqua Isolier- und Haftgrund). On surfaces with discolouring ingredients, apply an insulating coat of Diessner Aqua Insulating Primer and Adhesion Promoter (Diessner Aqua Isolier- und Haftgrund). You can also primer with the solvent-based DiescoLack All-round Primer (DiescoLack Allgrund). Finishing coats: Apply Diesco Multilan plus at least twice without thinning down. 4 Minimum handling temperature Drying time Cleaning the tools / airless equipment + 8 C substrate and ambient temperature. At + 23 C and 50% relative humidity, dry as dust after approx. one hour. Dry and paintable after approx. 4-6 hours. Considerably longer drying time at lower temperatures and/or higher humidity. During the drying time, the coat must be protected from moisture. Clean tools/equipment with water immediately after use. Please note: Not suitable for horizontal surfaces with any water loading. Do not use in direct sunlight, in strong winds, if there is a risk of rain, mist or dew, a risk of higher humidity (>85%) or a risk of night frost (during the entire processing and drying phase). Do not use if the ambient, subsurface or drying temperature is below +8 C or above +25 C. Protect from any humidity during the drying period. Failure to comply with this may result in damage to the coat in the form of peeling, blistering or premature chalking. Water soluble additives can be washed out in the case of severe exposure to moisture (owing to dew, mist, rain and driving rain in particular). At worst, these can appear as sticky, slightly shiny run-off stains (leaching of additives). Therefore, protect the coat from any moisture during the drying period. Any run-off stains that are present have no effect on the shelf life of the product and will, as a general rule, be completely removed by any further weathering. In case of tinted paints, mechanical strain on the surface can lead to changes in colour (so-called brushing effect or breakdown of the filler/pigment). This does not affect the weather resistance. When using as door and window paint, first check its compatibility with the door and window seals. Do not use if the sealing profiles contain softeners. For this, we recommend our products from the DiescoLack range. Suitable substrates and their preparation: Substrates must be solid, dry, free of dirt, blooming, discolouration, fungal growth, sintered layers, multi-grain layers and separating substances. Any old coats that are to be treated must be tested for their suitability, adhesion and stability. Remove unstable coats. Please refer to the VOB, Part C DIN para. 3 and the respective BFS datasheets. Please refer to the statutory regulations in the case of any cleaning work. 5 Wood, wood-based materials: In case of new wood, remove resin discharges, pitch pockets and fats. Sand greyed UV-weathered wood layers up to the healthy wood. The max. wood moisture should not exceed 12% in case of hardwoods and 15% in case of softwoods. On the outer side, apply a base coat of DiescoLack Wood Protection Primer (DiescoLack Holzschutzgrund). On woods with discolouring ingredients, apply a coat of the aqueous Diessner Aqua Insulating Primer and Adhesion Promoter (Diessner Aqua Isolier- und Haftgrund) or the solvent-based DiescoLack All-round Primer (DiescoLack Allgrund). The type of wood and wood-based materials must be suitable for the desired use. In case of doubt, contact the manufacturer of the wooden products. Refer to the BFS datasheet no. 18. Concrete: Remove any residue of separating agents as well as any multi-grain layers mechanically or using pressure water jets in compliance with the statutory regulations. Apply a coat of Diessner Acrylic Hydro Primer (Diessner Acryl-Hydrogrund) to absorbent surfaces. Plasters from mortar group CS II, CS III, CS IV in accordance with DIN EN = mortar group P II and P III in accordance with DIN V 18550: Areas to be touched up must have dried out well and set. Apply a fluosilicate solution and rewash areas to be touched up. Please note: Apply the fluosilicate solutions to the area including the outer edge and rewash with clear water. If a large area has to be touched up, apply the fluosilicate solution to the whole area and rewash. Brush down plasters with a multi-grain layer, stabilise by applying fluosilicate solution and rewash with clear water. Plasters with sintered layers: Remove the sintered layer by etching with fluosilicate solution or etching fluid and rewash with clear water. The plasters must be sufficiently solid; minimum pressure resistance 2.5 N/mm². New plasters should be left untreated for at least 2-4 weeks depending on the plaster after-treatment, time of the year and temperature conditions. Areas to be touched up must have dried out well and set. Apply a coat of Diessner Acrylic Hydro Primer (Diessner Acryl-Hydrogrund) to absorbent surfaces. Test the effectiveness of the primer. Please refer to BFS datasheet no. 25. Exposed brickwork: New brickwork should have dried out completely. Only frost-resistant fair faced bricks or clinkers without any foreign particles are suitable for coating. The brickwork must have been grouted without cracks and free from salt efflorescence. Check the absorbency of the substrate. Apply a coat of Diessner Acrylic Hydro Primer (Diessner Acryl-Hydrogrund) to absorbent surfaces. Please refer to BFS datasheet no. 13. 6 Fibre cement boards: Neutralise new highly alkaline boards. Apply a base coat of a solvent-based deep penetrating primer on weathered, absorbent surfaces. Coat free standing boards including the edges. Avoid penetration of moisture behind the coat. If possible, coat rear sides as well. Fibre cement boards with high-compression coats (e.g. Glasal): Check the adhesion of the coat. Primer with DiescoLack Aqua 2 K EP- Primer. Asbestos cement boards: Pay attention to the respective statutory regulations, TRGS 19 and the BFS datasheet no. 14. Stable gloss paints: Abrade any shiny old coats. Clean dirty, easily chalking surfaces using pressure water jets. (Pay attention to statutory regulations when cleaning). Allow the subsurface to dry out well. Apply a base coat of Diessner Aqua Insulating Primer and Adhesion Promoter (Diessner Aqua Isolier- und Haftgrund). Check adhesion/effectiveness of the primer. Stable emulsion paints: Abrade any shiny old coats. Clean dirty, easily chalking surfaces using pressure water jets. (Pay attention to statutory regulations when cleaning). Allow the subsurface to dry out well. Primer low- or non-absorbent surfaces with Diessner Aqua Insulating Primer and Adhesion Promoter (Diessner Aqua Isolier- und Haftgrund) or directly paint with Diessner Multilan. In case of doubt, check on a sample area. Test the effectiveness of the sample area. Plastics (hard PVC): Clean with fat-dissolving cleaning agents. Sand well and clean. In case of a variety of plastics, check the adhesion on a sample area. Apply a base coat of Diessner Aqua Insulating Primer and Adhesion Promoter (Diessner Aqua Isolier- und Haftgrund). Check adhesion/effectiveness of the primer. NE metals, galvanised surfaces: Clean the surface with ammoniac wetting agent or with approved special cleaning agents using an abrasive fabric. Rewash with clean water. Please refer to BFS datasheet no. 5. Wash aluminium surfaces with cellulose thinner. Please refer to BFS datasheet no. 6. In case of galvanised surfaces, white bloom defects can become visible through the coat if there is strong moisture penetration. Remove the bloom defects when dry and apply another coat. Apply a base coat of the Diessner Aqua Insulating Primer and Adhesion Promoter (Diessner Aqua Isolier- und Haftgrund) or the DiescoLack Aqua 2 K EP-Primer. Check adhesion/effectiveness of the primer.
