Company Profile Speedpanel is an unlisted public company with a manufacturing facility based in Kilsyth, Victoria. Speedpanel was introduced to the Australian market early in 2000 and has grown steadily in the marketplace, with many key building companies in Australia now recognizing the benefi ts of Speedpanel and using it in selected building projects. Speedpanel s light weight, ease of construction, together with its speed of installation has seen its broad acceptance throughout the building industry. Speedpanel has been associated with many Green Star projects such as Council House 2 (CH2) in Melbourne, the Melbourne Convention Centre, Melbourne University Commerce Building and the Fairfax Media House in Melbourne as well as being considered for several interstate projects. Speedpanel is shipped around Australia, with the economics of construction time savings outweighing the transport costs, and has been used in Far North Queensland, Darwin by Hindmarsh Builders, and also the mining industry in Western Australia. Industrial builders and shed companies throughout the eastern states have also realised the value of Speedpanel for fi re rated boundary and separation walls. Speedpanel has a manufacturing facility under license in New Zealand, and recently a new license has been taken up in Great Britain. There are also several other countries in various stages of license negotiations. Future products such as 64mm and 51mm thick panels will soon be released onto the market. 2

Speedpanel is a dramatic and innovative shift from traditional building products. It s unique profi le creates a completed product ready for assembly. Speedpanel is an Australian invented and patented product made from galvanised steel, surrounding an aerated concrete core. It s dimensions are 250 mm wide and 78 mm thick with tongue and groove fi tting and a weight of only 40kg per m2. Speedpanel has a fi re rating of 4 hours integrity and 2 hours thermally at a three metre high wall and can be designed for greater heights, also withstanding high wind loads. This makes Speedpanel one of the strongest lightweight building products on the market. Environmental Benefits Speedpanel is made using raw materials of steel and aerated concrete with a recycled content. The composition includes 15% Fly Ash and the galvanised casing also contains a recycled blend of steel. Speedpanel can be reused, and at the end of it s life cycle, can be completely recycled, making it one of the more environmentally friendly building products on the market. Speedpanel s ability to be custom made to length minimizes the waste on site and it s unique profi le allows for the panels to be dismantled and reassembled with ease. Speedpanel can be installed vertically or horizontally depending on project requirements. Speedpanel can be easily adapted for installation in any normal structure as well as providing a back wall for secondary structures (Photos below and right) Construction using Speedpanel walls can be commenced earlier than other comparative building products 5

SPEEDPANEL Apartment Wall Systems Rw 60 + Ctr 54 Fire Rating - /240/ mm High standard tenancy separation for minimum wall thickness Rw 66 + Ctr 58 Fire Rating - /240/ mm Cinema quality acoustic performance for the Standard Rw curve The Metropolitan Apartments Canberra 7
Intertenancy Walls Speedpanel s high acoustic performance and speed of erection ideally suit this type of wall, while the cost of speedpanel systems are equivalent to most other inter-tenancy wall systems. The construction time is dramatically reduced taking out the otherwise bottleneck stage of dividing walls while providing high quality acoustic, secure and solid separation walls between apartments. The Metropolitan Apartments, Canberra Speedpanel s inter-tenancy wall systems for multi-unit residential projects can be easily confi gured to exceed all requirements for both fi re and noise control without the large price increase associated with many other systems. Based on its simplicity and unique design, Speedpanel s solid wall construction provides radio frequency shielding along with other unique benefi ts. Townhouse walls As a boundary wall it eliminates the need for underpinning - a very expensive exercise. As the separation wall for light weight townhouse construction it is built at the same time as the frame, providing ease of site coordination and reduction in building time. 8
Speedpanel has been developing various tenancy wall systems to keep up with the ever increasing demand for higher quality systems in the apartment market. Developers and owners have been increasing their expectations of quality. In many cases this exceeds the standards set down by the BCA codes. Speedpanel has responded to requests by developing a range of wall systems that are thin, using only basic building materials, standard 13mm plasterboard with relatively cheap insulation materials to achieve a 188mm thick wall. We have other systems with Rw + Ctr ranging from 50 to 68 with a wall thickness of 175mm to 225mm. All of these systems have a fire rating of -/120/120 up to 4.5 metres in height and can be designed to cope with greater heights and fi re ratings if required. We believe that Speedpanel systems provide one of the most cost effective, lightweight, high performing inter-tenancy wall systems on the market. The Speedpanel Systems provided within this brochure include test report numbers. These test reports are available on request or accessible on our website. Speedpanel provides wherever possible test reports by NATA approved laboratories for the general public and consultants for all its systems and relies on the minimum amount of certifi ed assessments in order to provide absolute certainty as to the overall performance of product and system. Site photos showing areas of construction where Speedpanel has been used. Note Speedpanel can be utilised in diverse applications such as fi re escape stairs and insulating walls for gymnasium and pool areas. These are examples of Speedpanel s versatility when applied to back of house applications 9

Speedpanel has been extensively used by Multiplex in construction of the Melbourne convention centre for its acoustic qualities and its ease of construction Speedpanel s shaft systems provide immediate safety barriers and can be partially constructed enabling easy fi t out on site.
MCG Redevelopment Plant Rooms, Ducts, Lift Shafts & Stairs Smaller footprint, light weight, ease of handling and tooling means Speedpanel walls can be erected to accommodate for penetrations without all the fuss that is associated with conventional approaches. Speedpanel has been proven an advantage in cramped and confi ned environments. Southern Cross Tower, Melbourne Because it can be easily installed from one side, there is no requirement to construct scaffolding inside the shaft, reducing construction time and costs. Eureka Tower, Melbourne Unlike conventional systems, Speedpanel can be installed at the early stages of construction and is used to produce water tight isolation allowing other trades quicker access to the work site. 27

Frequently Asked Questions What size and weight does Speedpanel comes in? Standard Speedpanel are 78mm thick, 250mm wide (when installed) and manufactured in lengths up to 9.1 metres. Standard Speedpanel weighs 40Kg/m2, and Acoustic Speedpanel weighs 50Kg/m2. What is the lead time for manufacture? Allow up to 4 weeks for standard galvanised fi nish and up to 6 weeks for Colourbond fi nish. Floor stock can be made in advance for special projects by arrangement. Floor stock will be sold at original length ordered, but can be cut to size at an additional cost. How do I order Speedpanel? All Speedpanel is manufactured in packs of 13 panels for ease of handling, storage and transport. The minimum order quantity of any specifi c length is one pack. A typical order is made up of packs e.g mm or mm etc (multiples of 13). Partial packs are possible at an extra cost. Who installs Speedpanel? One of the key benefi ts of Speedpanel is its simple assembly system allowing existing competent trademen such as bricklayers and carpenters to install with ease. Many of our customers have installed it themselves with great success and likewise we can arrange for installation by recommending installers if required. What tools are required to install Speedpanel? Cutting can be done with sabre/reciprocating saw or evacuated grinder to minimise dust. Can Speedpanel be used as an external wall? Speedpanel can be used on an external wall however it is recommended to be externally clad to achieve a complete and extended life span of the wall. If unclad special attention needs to be given to adequately seal the bottom track to prevent water pooling. How much Speedpanel cost? Speedpanel is very competitive compare with our traditional systems and provides unique advantages which often lead to a lower overall installation cost. We are happy to discuss the best Speedpanel for your project and provide estimates and quotations. 47
