The following tests have been carried out in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 Table 23: Tensile strength, edge tear resistance with AS/NZS 4200:1994 Resistance to water vapour transmission in accordance with ASTM E96 Resistance to water penetration in accordance with AS/NZS Surface water absorbency in accordance with AS/NZS :1994 Air resistance to BS Shrinkage in accordance with AS/NZS :1994 ph of extract in accordance with AS/NZS s Fire retardant in accordance with AS 1530 Part 2 Flammability Beal weather tightness test 112 a modification from AS/NZS 4284:2008 and E2/VM1 SCOPE OF USE 5.1. In Wall Applications MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier is designed for use under direct fixed and non-direct fixed wall cladding on timber framed and steel framed buildings. MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier is manufactured from high quality synthetic spun bonded material with high UV qualities and waterproofing qualities Timber Framed buildings UNI Flexible Air Barrier has been appraised for use on timber framed buildings within the following scope: The scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1 with regards to building height and floor plan area; and With absorbent and non-absorbent wall claddings directly fixed to the frame; and With absorbent and non-absorbent wall claddings installed over an 18mm minimum drained cavity; and With masonry veneer in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1; and Situated in NZS 3604:2011 wind zones up to and including Very high Steel framed buildings UNI Flexible Air Barrier has been appraised for use on steel framed buildings within the following scope: The scope of limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1; with regards to building height and floor plan area; and With absorbent and non-absorbent wall claddings directly fixed to the frame; and, With absorbent and non-absorbent wall claddings installed over an 18mm minimum drained cavity; and, With masonry veneer in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1; and, Situated in NZS 3604:2011 wind zones up to and including Very high Rigid wall underlays UNI Flexible Air Barrier has been appraised for use as a flexible wall underlay over rigid wall underlays on timber and steel framed buildings within the following scope: The scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1 with regards to building height and floor plan area; and, With absorbent and non-absorbent wall claddings directly fixed to the frame; With absorbent and non-absorbent wall claddings direct fixed to framing and installed over an 18mm minimum drained cavity; and, With masonry veneer in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 for timber framed buildings or specific design for steel framed buildings; and, Situated in NZS 3604:2011 Wind Zones up to and including 'Extra High'. 4 CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS 6.1. Must be installed in accordance with E2/AS1, Clauses and Building designers are responsible for the building design and for the incorporation of UNI Flexible Air Barrier into their design in accordance with the declared properties and the instructions of the UNI Flexible Air Barrier technical data sheet Only to be installed by a suitably licenced tradesperson or licensed building practitioner in accordance with MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier document v1.0 October This certification relates only the clauses of the NZBC as contained herein, consequently, any clause not included in this are outside the scope of the CodeMark Certification. Timber and Steel Framing Studs must be provided at maximum 600mm centres. Dwangs must be fitted flush between the studs at maximum 1200mm centres. MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier is intended for use as an alternative to conventional building papers which are fixed over timber or steel framed walls in order to limit the entry of wind into building cavities, and to act as a secondary barrier to wind-driven rain. 5 Commencing from installation, MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier must not be exposed to the weather for more than 90 days. MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier may be used as a temporary weather protecting sheathing to allow the Insulation and Internal Lining of the building to proceed before the wall cladding is installed. Temporary weather protection - To achieve temporary weather tightness all joins of UNI Flexible Air Barrier must be sealed using MASONS 40 Below Flashing Tape including taping UNI Flexible Air Barrier to the floor slab to close off any potential air or moisture ingress, the roof cladding and soffit linings must be installed, Masons 40 Below Flashing Tape must be installed around all the window and door openings as per MASONS 40 Below technical document and installation guide, and the window and door joinery must be installed complete with head flashings and air seals. The timber wall framing must have a maximum moisture content as specified by the internal lining system at the time of the insulation installation and internal lining application. In cavity installations, where the cavity battens are installed at greater than 450mm centres, Masons UNI Flexible Air Barrier must be supported between the battens to prevent the underlay bulging into the cavity space when bulk insulation is installed in the wall frame cavity in accordance with the requirements of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS Structure MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier is suitable for use in all Wind Zones of NZS 3604:2011 up to, and including, Very High when used as a stand-alone flexible building underlay, and all Wind Zones of NZS 3604:2011 up to, and including, Extra High when used as an overlay for rigid building underlays Durability MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier meets code compliance with NZBC Clause B2.3.1 (a), not less than 50 years for building underlays used where the cladding durability requirement or expected serviceable life is not less than 50 years, e.g. behind masonry veneer, and code compliance with NZBC Clause B2.3.1 (b), 15 years for building underlays used where the cladding durability requirement is 15 years; as well as B Prevention of Fire Occurring MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier must be separated from fireplaces, heating appliances, flues and chimneys in accordance with the requirements of NZBC Acceptable Solutions C/AS1 to C/AS6, Paragraph for the protection of combustible materials Control of Internal Fire and Smoke MASONS Uni Flexible Air Barrier has been tested to AS , achieving flammability (not greater than 5) and therefore meets the requirements of NZBC Acceptable solutions C/AS6, Paragraph (b), for the surface finish requirements of suspended flexible fabric used as an underlay to exterior cladding that is exposed to view in occupied spaces in purpose groups SM, SI, C, WB and WS. It may therefore be used with no restrictions in all buildings Serviceable Life Provided it is not exposed to the weather or ultra-violet light for a total of more than 90 days, and provided the exterior cladding is maintained in accordance with the cladding Manufacturer's instructions and the cladding remains weather resistant, MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier is expected to have a serviceable life equal to that of the cladding External Moisture MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier must be used behind claddings that meet the requirements of the NZBC, such as those covered by NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1. MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier, when installed in accordance with the Technical Literature and this will assist in the total cladding systems compliance with NZBC Clause E Masonry Veneer Masonry veneer on timber framed buildings must be in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1. Stucco Plaster - MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier is suitable for use as a non-rigid backing material for stucco plaster in accordance with the requirements of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1,

MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier may also be used as a slip layer over rigid backings for stucco plaster in accordance with the requirements of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 9.3.3.1(b).

6 Stucco Plaster - MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier is suitable for use as a non-rigid backing material for stucco plaster in accordance with the requirements of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph The underlay must be supported with 75mm galvanized mesh or plastic tape or wire at 150mm centres run across the cavity battens to limit deflection to a maximum of 5mm. MASONS UNI Flexible Air Barrier may also be used as a slip layer over rigid backings for stucco plaster in accordance with the requirements of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph (b). INSTALLATON REQUIREMENTS General Instructions. Fix with the printed side out. Pull taut over the framing before fixing. Only to be fixed with MASONS UNI Fasteners. Run the wrap horizontally. Be lapped not less than 75mm at horizontal joints; have upper sheets lapped over lower sheets to ensure that direction of laps will allow water to be shed to outside of the wall underlay. Be lapped not less than 150mm over studs at vertical joints. Extend 50mm below bottom plate or bearer. Run a 600mm UNI soffit strip taut along the top and over the top plate. Secure with UNI Fasteners at 600mm centres. Run UNI horizontally extend from the upper-side of the top plate to the under-side of the bearers or wall plates supporting ground floor joists, or a minimum of 50mm below bottom plates on concrete slabs and must be taped to the concrete slab using 75mm MASONS 40 Below. Horizontal laps must be no less than 75mm wide and require to be taped off with MASONS 75mm 40 Below - Window Flashing Tape End laps must be made over stud framing, be no less than 150mm wide and must be fully sealed and taped off using MASONS 40 Below self-adhesive window tape Report Number: CMA-ER30204 Page 6 of 9

7 The wall underlay should be run over openings and is to be left covered until windows and doors are ready to be installed. Openings are formed in the membrane by cutting on a 45-degree diagonal from each corner of the penetration. The flaps of the cut membrane must be folded inside the opening and stapled to the penetration framing. Excess underlay may be cut off flush with the internal face of the wall frame. UNI Flexible Air Barrier must be restrained from bulging into the drained cavity in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/ AS1, Paragraph UNI Flexible Air Barrier can be added as a second layer over head flashings in accordance with the requirements of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 9.1.7(e). Any damaged areas of UNI Flexible Air Barrier, such as tears, holes or gaps around service penetrations, must be repaired. Damaged areas can be repaired by covering with new material lapping the damaged area by at least 150 mm and taping using MASONS 40 Below Flashing Tape, or by taping small tears using MASONS 40 below flashing tape. Flexible sill and jamb tape installation MASONS 40 Below Self-Adhesive Flashing Tape must be used around in accordance with MASONS UNI installation instructions. Particular attention must be paid to the installation of the sill and jam tapes around window and door openings to ensure all exposed timber wall framing in the opening is protected. Brick veneer construction, MASONS brick ties must be used during installation of the brick veneer. PRODUCT TESTING The following testing and reports were reviewed by CMI in complaining this : Source SCION Report J31953 / QT6069A Content Method NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 Table 23 AS/NZS , Tensile strength. Sample specimens were 50mm wide with a test span of 180mm. Testing was conducted using an Instron universal testing apparatus. Ten test-pieces were tested in each of the machine and cross-machine directions. The rate of elongation was 200mm/minute in the machine direction and 30mm/min in the cross-machine direction. Tappi T470, Edge-tear resistance. The rate of elongation was 25mm/minute and sample specimens were 25mm wide with a span length of 90mm. Testing was conducted using an Instron universal testing apparatus. Ten test-pieces were tested in each of the machine and cross-machine directions. Sample strips were alternated with top or bottom sides folded towards testing stirrup. AS/NZS :1994; Shrinkage. Four test pieces were soaked for 30 minutes in distilled water at 23 C then dried under restraint at 23 C and 50% relative humidity for hours. Ten Report Number: CMA-ER30204 Page 7 of 9

8 soak/dry cycles were completed before re-measuring samples to determine shrinkage. A negative result denotes stretching of the sample. AS/NZS :1994; Resistance to water penetration. Was determined by exposing eight test specimens with alternating sides of sheet exposed to a known head of a 0.05% methylene blue solution at a temperature of 23 C for controlled period of time. The test area was approximately 28cm². The test is considered a fail if any solution passes through the specimen in a 24 hour period. This method was modified to enable a 150mm head of water and the exposure time was conducted over the standard 24 hours and an extended period or 48 hours. Sample identification FBC A white, synthetic, bi-laminate underlay with reinforcing mesh sandwiched under a clear membrane coating. It is labelled as having two passes and treatment coating. Its dimensions are 2300mm wide by 1860mm long. Method NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 Table 23 AS/NZS ; Tensile strength. Sample specimens were 50mm wide with a test span of 180mm. AS/NZS :1994; Resistance to water penetration. AS/NZS :1994; Surface water absorbency. AS/NZS :1998, ph of extract. BS , Air resistance. Based on ISO 6536/ BEAL BTS# TR Assessment of weathertightness of the MASONS PlastaBrick Ltd. UNI Flexible Air Barrier (FAB) system for use on timber framing. Test Method The sample wall specimen was tested in accordance with BEAL Testing Services Test Procedure 112 a modification from AS/NZS 4284:2008. Deviations - Sample size was approximately 1.9 by 1.5 meters. -.The sample wall was representative of a new build residential structure comprised of timber framing. - Constructed in accordance with NZS 3604: The pressures the sample was subjected to were modified from the pressures of 455Pa and 910Pa recommended in E2/VM1.
