5 Project Management Engineering and Design The DRA BGC JV project management model allows for close client interaction and involvement. Typically this involves key members of the client s team being located in the JV office. This will facilitate direct access between the JV management team, lead engineers and the client s team, which will support efficient interaction and decision making. This is a model that has proven highly successful for previous projects. Engineering and design development will be advanced collaboratively with our clients to achieve a finalised process design baseline and detailed site layout in accordance with JV s in-house development processes. The detailed design scope will be suitably packaged to facilitate costeffective execution of the work, using our proven and efficient global lowcost design centres. The project will be managed using the JV s in-house project management systems, which include tools for control of all aspects of the project lifecycle. The use of resources at a significantly lower cost than are available in Australia for the manhour intensive detailed design phase. Regular design reviews will be conducted during the detailed design phase. These will be conducted in our Australian Offices, using video conferencing. 6 Procurement Operations and Maintenance Our JV has a global network of vendors that we can engage to provide the most cost effective supply solution for a project. Established offices in low cost centres that include South Africa and China provide the JV with the flexibility to provide the procurement solution that is best suited to a project s requirements. We are able offer our clients a complete integrated solution for all operational and maintenance services required to support materials handling and processing plants. Mechanical equipment, structural steel and platework will be sourced taking advantage of capital savings available in lower cost centres. Equipment will only be sourced from approved, internationally recognised vendors who have a demonstrated service capability in Australia. The global reach of our offices affords an extensive Quality Assurance and Expediting capability in support of this sourcing strategy, while our JV office in Beijing offers the same capability for Chinese equipment and supply. Quality Assurance, Expediting and inspection will be conducted from the most appropriate JV office geographically. 8 Boasting an extensive track record in this area, our JV operates a wide range of dry and wet processing plants ranging from conventional crushing and screening to complex coal and mineral processing facilities. In addition to this we provide our clients with a comprehensive, whole of life maintenance service. The JV utilises a CMMS JDE One World to manage and support our maintenance program, utilising proven predictive and preventative maintenance tasks. Our reliance on condition based monitoring activities achieves optimal shutdown and routine maintenance windows and guarantees longevity of the facility under full operation whilst optimising the life cycle cost. The operation and maintenance team is also supported by dedicated supply chain professionals who manage all procurement, logistics and inventory to enable us to offer clients a high quality low cost solution. 9

7 Construction The JV Construction delivery model is an extension of the Project Management model leveraging off the close link between the detailed engineering and construction teams. As well as constructability optimisation the construction team work closely with the design and operational teams to consider safety in design opportunities to eliminate risks for construction and operations personnel. Feature Projects The following are a selection of our feature projects that illustrate excellence in our joint capability to deliver successful outcomes for our clients on a local, national and international scale across a broad range of commodities varying in complexity. Through proven site execution and planning capability the JV will utilise accredited management systems for OH&S, Risk Management, Quality Assurance, planning and project delivery by self-performing works and where appropriate using specialist subcontractors. The DRA BGC JV offer a strong track record in the construction of process plants globally, ranging from small through to large, complex multi-billion dollar projects. 0

8 Kibali Gold Clermont Coal Kumani Iron Ore Project Aurora Black Otter Coal Mt Webber Kibali Gold is a significant 7. Mtpa oxide and sulphide gold project built for Rand Gold Resources. BGC Contracting has undertaken work on a number of civil projects for Rio Tinto Coal Australia. The works consisted of earthworks and civil works necessary to help establish the Clermont Coal Mine. DRA were contracted by Assmang to manage, design and construct their greenfields Khumani Iron Ore Project. This was followed by a brownfields expansion. The project was delivered ahead of time and under budget. It is the largest project that DRA has completed, boasting a total production capacity of 6 Mtpa, with Mtpa ROM processing capability. Initially appointed as the study manager, DRA was subsequently appointed as the main engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contractor for detail design and engineering. DRA was given overall responsibility as managing contractor for the end-to-end project management and integration of the crushing facility, processing plant, stockyards and infrastructure, which included power, water, roads, rail sidings and on-and off-site accommodation during the construction phase. DRA provided turnkey design, engineering, procurement, construction and startup services for Signal Peak Energy s bituminous coal handling and washing facility in Montana, USA. Signal Peak Energy s Black Otter Mine employs longwall mining to produce 7,000 tph of run-ofmine (ROM) coal, which is conveyed to a stacking tube for ground storage. Reclaimed at,500 tph, the ROM coal is conveyed to a screening and crushing building for reduction to top size and then transported to a raw coal stockpile. Flexibility has been provided to direct the reclaimed raw coal to the preparation plant or, depending on quality, directly to the clean coal storage area. The Mt Webber mine is located 0 km via road south-southeast of Port Hedland. The Mt Webber mine is a staged development, initially to Mtpa of DSO and then expanding to 6Mtpa in stage. In particular the packages involved: Project Aurora was a multi-disciplinary joint venture between BGC Contracting, United Group Resources and Lend Lease for the design and construction of a $955 million Ammonium Nitrate Production facility in Moranbah Queensland. The completed facility for Dyno Nobel will supply explosives to the resource industry. DRA delivered the design, procurement and project management of the metallurgical plant, infrastructure, a 45 MW backup power system and tailings. The first phase of the project also included a MW hydropower plant. During the peak construction phase of Kibali, DRA was responsible for more than 4,500 contractor personnel on site, achieving 9.8 million consecutive injury free hours. Total capital cost of the project was US$.8 billion. Early works earthworks including hardstands and constructing mine, process and sedimentation dams; Construction of the mine industrial area (MIA) and the Run of Mine (ROM) retaining wall and pad; and Construction of a.4 km overland conveyor (OLC) alignment including structures. Extensions added to the original scope of works included, process water dam, x sedimentation dam and erosion protection works. BGC Contracting were awarded two BOO contracts for the Development of the mine site, including the detailed design, installation and commissioning of a mtpa, upgradeable to 6mtpa mineral processing plant, and mining and processing operations. Comprising a,000 tonne per hour stage crushing and screening circuit, sampling station and radial stackers that can stockpile up to 80,000 tonnes of final product, the state of the art fixed plant went from concept to completion in months.
